A Tale of One City

Happy Monday! Thank you all for the birthday wishes! I had what can only be described as an absolutely idyllic weekend tootling around Paris. The weather was perfect, the hotel was perfect, the wine was . . . well, you get the picture. But because perfection can also leave one feeling a bit exhausted, I will leave you with these photos.

Lounging on the grass at the Places des Vosges.

The Promenade Planteée, an elevated walkway on a disused railway line.

Graffiti and blossoms on the Promenade Plantée/

Cutting through the buildings.

Drinks on a boat in the Seine, just across from Notre Dame.

The view from our hotel window, right outside the Places des Vosges.

Scary tunnel as our boat makes its way from Bastille to the Canal St-Martin.

One of the many locks on the Canal St-Martin.

The Basin de Villette.

Budding trees at the Jardins des Luxembourg.
Phew! And there you have it. Paris in the springtime: done.

How was your weekend?

  25. Hi Talli! You look so nice in the picture.

The Brits are so lucky to be that close to Paris!

I was in Paris quite a lot in the early 80's. I loved shopping for fashion, and the over the top attention one gets- all in French from sales girls.

So glad to see you took a boat ride. Yeah- that's one scary tunnel. If I ever go back to Paris, I think I should do that, and See Paris more as a tourist- sight seeing. Your photos really show the true Paris. I think I missed a lot.

So glad it was a perfect weekend birthday!

  28. Hi Talli .. looks absolutely wonderful - and lots done too - despite the lounging ... it's the second high railway I've seen converted to a walkway this past week - the other was in NYC ... what a great way to see the sights - then your boat trip ..and the drinks, and the cherry blossom ..

Happy Birthday year ahead .. cheers Hilary
