In 'Da Hood

I know. That doesn't really work with my voice, does it? Ah well, I tried. So . . . happy Wednesday! You'll be delighted to hear I slept well last night. I'm delighted, anyway!

As I trotted to the library last night to return my overdue library books (£30 in fines, thank you very much), I was reminded what a fantastic neighbourhood I live in -- and what a past it's had.

  1. Berlimy! Some illustrious precedents you've got there. Bound to be something in the air, no wonder you're so inspired.

  2. That is cool to have the plaques. I want a billboard for my city (Cincinnati, Oh)!!

  3. My all those famous people.
Where I live in Bournemouth the land where the house I live in belonged once to Percy Shelley son of poet Percy Byshee Shelley and Mary Shelley of Frankinstien fame.
Percy Jnr, bought a manor just along the road which is now our health centre. All three are buried here in Bournemouth.

If someone put a plaque on the wall where I live it would say.
"Yvonne Lewis lived here loved squirrels and slides but not at the same time.

    Yvonne.

  5. What inspiration you have every time you take a walk. My plaque would say, pure and simple, Author :)

  6. It's interesting to investigate parts of buildings above eye level. Here in Weymouth, we have a cannonball lodged in the side of a building near the harbour. Dorchester is ten minutes away, which of course, was Hardy's Casterbridge. That's all I can think of right now, but we're quite small here :-)

  7. £30 in library fines!!!! how many books did you have and just how overdue were they??????

  8. Agatha Christie was almost your next door neighbour? Wow! I don't think the street I live on now has any literary connections, but I grew up at a place where Fanny Burney met her husband. I don't think there's a blue plaque anywhere, though!

And £30 in library fines? Tsk! ;-)

  9. Oh, how FUN! You're on that London Literary tour, aren't you?! They will have to add your name to the list they point out! There was once a writer who lived on my street... I know which house, but I don't know his name *shifty*

  10. You definitely should get your own plaque! Those are one of my fave aspects of London--I love seeing all the history of those buildings!

  11. Cool neighborhood. Glad you're home safe and sound and hope you had a grand time in Canada!

Not sure what I'd want mine to say. Never wanted to be famous.

  13. You're in great company there, Talli - I like hearing these interesting snippets about London since I don't get there very often!

  14. Wow, cool neighborhood. I love historic places - wish I lived in one. If I took a photo tour of my neighborhood, I'm afraid it would be full of no tresspassing signs, stray animals and - the crown jewel - the previously abandoned lot where we're still storing all the tons of tornado debris. LOL

(Sorry about the double post. There was a typeo.)

  24. WOW! Can I say jealous? I think we might have a sign at the local park that tells us who it's named after. And even with that, I have no idea who the guy was!

Hmmm...I think mine would say "Jennifer Chandler lived here. She might still. Darn portals."

  25. Mine would probably say "She made being lazy an artform." ;)

  36. No plaques in my neighborhood, that's for sure!

  37. I wish ere were some of these in Cardiff. I love looking at those little slices omf history. My favourite (can't remember where it is) is a plaque dated in the future for the inventor of time travel n

    Mine would read
    "Jamie Gibbs
    Sandwich affectionado
    Lounge pants wearer
    The man
    The myth
    The legend
    Lived here"

Hey, if I'm having any say over it, I'm making sure it paints me in a good light!
