Ten for Tuesday: Honest Scrap

In a fit of efficiency, I just received this award yesterday and I'm going to pass it on today! How's that for non-award-hoarding! Many thanks to the wonderful Neurotic Workaholic, who gave me the Honest Scrap award.

Here are the rules: I have to list 10 facts that aren't common knowledge and pass it on to other bloggers. Being the ego-centric writer that I am, I'm going to make the 10 facts all about me! Just because I can!

1. I dye my hair when I'm bored with my life. In some of the most boring jobs I've had, I've gone from red to brown to blonde and back through the cycle again. The number of times I dye my hair is directly related to my level of boredom.

2. I have a tattoo on my back. It's the Chinese symbol for 'journey'.

3. I love love LOVE bread! I know I go on about cupcakes and the like, but a world without bread is not a world I want to live in.

4. I lived in Poland for two years and I absolutely loved it.

5. I'm originally Canadian and I just became a British citizen last week! God Save the Queen and all that!

6. I once tried to write a YA novel and I failed spectacularly.

7. I used to play the flute in a gypsy orchestra -- it was tons of fun and if I had the time I'd go back and do it again.

8. I am the world's worst sleeper. I can't remember the last time I actually slept through the night -- I'm constantly waking up at all hours.

9. My husband and I met on a blind date through the Internet! *gasp!*

10. I just wrote the first chapter for a new novel!

So there you have it. Gosh, I was struggling there - I should call these the Most Boring Facts! Anyway, I'm going to pass this on to:

Kittie Howard
Fran - hey, how about 10 Tenby facts? :)
Gina Leigh Maxwell
Debs
Sarah Callejo

Happy Tuesday!

  1. Ooo, awesome list. And I don't know if you really are the world's worst sleeper/ I think I might own that title. Not only do I wake up a zillion times, but I clench my teeth and wake up with a sore jaw. My dentist hates me for it. :)

    Happy Tuesday! Thanks for sharing.

  2. LOL, you a bad sleeper too? Yeah, I spend all night waking up a gazillion times, then the sun decides to rise and suddenly I'm in the deepest sleep ever and can't get outta bed. Ugh.

  3. I'm so excited that you used to play the flute!

I cut my hair when I'm bored or stuck in a rut.

Great facts, I enjoyed reading them :)

  4. Ooh, what's a gypsy orchestra? Sounds more exciting than a regular orchestra. :-)

My hair is always the first thing to go/change when I'm in a rut too. Must be a female thing. :0)

  12. Shannon and Jessica - maybe we should form a 'Bad Sleepers' Society'? Or support group?

Summer - we played gypsy improv music. It was so much fun! Basically, it's by ear.

  13. OMG, I feel like your soul sister now. I could live on bread. When I was pregnant with my second child, I used to have to drive to teach at a university an hour away, and I would slowly devour an entire French baguette along the way. And sometimes, I would pick up another for the way home. I'm telling you, the thing I like best about going to new places is trying out the new bread.

OMG, I must go to a bakery today.

And yay for starting the new book!!! So exciting. I love starting a new project!!

  14. Thanks for sharing the fun facts. I love bread too- until two years ago when I discovered I have a gluten allergy. Oh, noooos. Now, I sigh and sniff through the bread isle and eat a lot of rice.

    Cheers~

  23. Luckily it's not that far a leap from "O Canada" to "God Save the Queen"! But which country will you cheer for during the Olympics? I'd love to live where you live, (and envy you deeply, by the way) but I don't know if I'd give up my Canadian citizenship.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Congratulations on your award. Those were fun facts. Where did your gypsy orchestra play? When I attended a Serbian wedding, a gypsy band crashed the wedding until the mother of the bride put cash in their tuba.

    ReplyDelete
  25. The gypsy orchestra played all over London - it was loads of fun!

And Hampshire Flyer - I did have to write the silly test for my permanent residency.

Elpseth - Thankfully I didn't have to give up my Canadian citizenship. I'm still Canadian too!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Haha, I do the same with my hair! I just bleached it the other day:)

So NOT boring factoids on Talli. Playing the flute in a gypsy orchestra...NOT boring. Dual citizenship? Not boring. Congrats on that too, btw.

Yeah, so count me in with the bread loving crew. But you can pretty much add ALL carbs (PASTA!!) to my list. I don't ant to live in a world w/out bread or pasta.

    Fun post, as always. :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Flute in a gypsy orchestra? Canadian that lived in Poland and then became a British citizen? And all that other interesting stuff? Talli, you are a great and real character! I'm which part of the hair cycle you are on now.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I'm a terrible sleeper, too. I also once tried to write a YA novel--two in fact! They were both soooooo bad I can't believe I ever let anyone else read them. Someone had convinced me that I was a YA writer. That person was VERY wrong :-P

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yay, another bread lover! I usually have two rolls at supper, and I'm always on the lookout for new types to try. Oh, I'm craving some now:)

  40. I loved hearing these fun facts about you. Ah, a Canadian girl by nature - gotta love it :)

    ReplyDelete
  41. I change my hair color all the time too. Especially when I'm trying to grow it out and I'm getting bored with it. I need a change, so I turn to color instead of scissors.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Very fun! I miss bread...I've been limiting my carbs. I'm still British even though I've been in the States since '74. I stink at sleeping too. I have black out curtains in our bedroom and I wear a mask just to try and get a good night's sleep...My husband was my best friend's boyfriend for a while (and yes we are still great friends). Congratulations on getting your first chapter done on yoru wip...
