Today has been a hot and squishy day. With temperatures in London topping 30 degrees Celsius most the weekend and today, writing in the heat of the afternoon has certainly been challenging! The late-afternoon sun pours into my office, making the logistics of writing in shorts whilst sitting on black leather fairly, well... squishy.
I can't complain, though, having spent Saturday lolling in the park listening to the distant strains of Hard Rock Calling. Yesterday we headed out to Twickenham for a BBQ -- and of course to watch the England versus Germany match which had taken on epic proportions. I'm by no means a football fan, but it was kind of fun to watch alongside our German hosts!
Thank you to everyone who weighed in on my photos! You can see which ones I've chosen for my websites: click here and here!
And that's all I've got for today, I'm afraid. The heat has made me rather lethargic (or is that the wine?).
Happy Monday!
Hot days make it so difficult to write, I completely agree!
ReplyDelete(And I'm so sad England lost, too! :()
I love your website, and the photos you've chosen.
Great choices for your photographs, they work well on your websites, and I like how you changed up the look for each.
ReplyDeleteIt's been awfully hot here too, near 90, but the humidity is just oppressive. It's difficult to do much of anything :/
It's brutal here as well.
ReplyDeleteAnd sorry about England. The USA went down in flames as well.
Stay cool there! Great to hear from you!
ReplyDeleteTalli you rocked in the photos! Sorry I didn't have a chance to weigh in on them but I love the one's you chose!
ReplyDeleteIt's hot here in Houston with a hurricane on the way... so I need to start backing things up, I would hate to lose everything because of some awful weather headed our way!
Wow, what a great website you have!
ReplyDeleteThe photos look great. Know what you mean about the heat. Right now we are at 91 but it feels like 98F (according to the computer), while my readout on the front porch says 96 degrees F.

those websites are awesome!!! and the pics look great- good choice!!
ReplyDeleteI will check out your pics but I know it's so hot here too. And it hasn't rained in weeks.

I completely agree!! The heat makes it difficult for me to do anything. I just want to devour ice cream. Haha, completely relate to squishy chair feeling.
ReplyDeleteThe velvet jackety one is brilliant!! I really really really like that!! I'm so glad it's the one chosen cos it's lovely!!!!
ReplyDeleteI was at work watching The Game on my pc so had the sound turned down but was most intrigued that across from where my office was there obviously was a pub and they were cheering at all the "wrong"moments - i.e. when Germany scored. It took me a while to realise that maybe the pub was just full of Germans! LOL!!!
What a game though!
And YAY for your pics!!
Take care
x
Thanks guys! Really appreciate all the held and lovely supportive photo comments. Here's hoping I don't need to do that again any time soon.
ReplyDeleteHope everyone had a great weekend!
Old Kitty - It was hilarious, actually. There were 5 Germans, 1 Brit, 1 Canadian/ Brit (me) and 1 Egyptian/ Brit (hubby). Oh yes, and 2 from Trinidad. Quite a multicultural gathering to watch the match! How painful, though. Horrible horrible effort from England!
Oh, Talli--we've finally gotten hot here on this high desert plain in Idaho--today!
ReplyDeleteI am melting, Talli! My neck of London is just a giant heat monster. Squishy is exactly the right word for it! And I like the pics you went for - was it the original pic you posted here in the end? I keep forgetting to go to Hyde Park to listen to the concerts for free as well - damn! Would have enjoyed hearing Sir Paul McCartney wafting over the trees. :)
ReplyDeleteI'll check out which photos you chose. It was fun to vote.
ReplyDeleteIt's in the 90s here today. I'm wilting. A thunderstorm is threatening to cool things off.
Great choices! The red jacket is especially nice. :)
ReplyDeleteYahoo says it's at 90 degrees where I'm at. And I'm about to go out too...
Squish is what I name any bug that enters my house...
ReplyDeleteThose were the photos I liked best! Yay!
ReplyDeleteTake a shower, then at least the squish will seem like water instead of sweat. :o)
Talli,
ReplyDeleteI bet it's crazy watching World Cup football live. Especially w/ Germans! Are you still getting along w/ them?
Mondays are usually good days to take off, especially when you're having a heatwave.
Like both pictures, the 1 on the Marsha site seems a bit more informal. It's cool you have 2 different sites for 2 different names!
Great photos. And perfect for each site. We have 93F right now in mid-afternoon and high humidity. What else, with Alex soon to visit the coast a hundred miles or so away. Thank God for air conditioning!
ReplyDeleteThose are my favorites. You look successful (beautiful as well).

Oooh.. I know about those hot days. I love the photos and the websites :)
ReplyDeleteSolution: NAKED. Towel over leather. I'm just sayin...
ReplyDeleteGreat pics--I notice you are managing two author profiles and I will probably be in contact about that soon, as I am facing similar... though I still need to buy my web domain... so not NEARLY to pictures yet...
I like both photos a lot! You look great in them! i didn't know you went by two names. I was confused at first!
ReplyDeleteI hate the squishiness of summers!
ReplyDeletewhat's this? I missed the pics? I'm off in search....
You can send that 30 degree weather my way! And by the way, love both the photos...they're great!
ReplyDeleteLOVE both of the photos!! Absolutely beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteHigh heat like that drives me batty. I much prefer cooler weather.
Both the photos AND your websites are great!
ReplyDeleteIt's probably old news but I'm just tuning in, congratulations on your book deal, that's major!!
It sounds like a rollicking fun read, too. I'll be looking for it on the book shelves here in the U.S. when it's released and make sure it's out in front!

My area is experiencing a heat wave! Not fun. Actually, I love the heat and sunshine, but not when high humidity tags along. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteStay cool, Talli!
First off: stay cool. And Second--have enjoyed the World Cup but only because I LOVE WHEN THEY TAKE OFF THEIR SHIRTS AFTER THE GAME IS DONE. OMG, adorable and handsome athletic men in the buff. Talk about inspiration.
ReplyDeleteAnd this is why I write romances :-)
You chose beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteIt is certainly hot here too in Virginia USA. But thank goodness for A/C or I couldn't even move!
Both photos and websites look smashing!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat pics and great sites!
ReplyDeleteIt's just gone 6am as I write this (I'm in Essex) and it's soooooo cool, it's glorious. I'm just hoping it doesn't get stupid-hot like the last couple of days. I have a dog who sleeps on my feet...not nice when it's hot!
Have a lovely day!
Great photos, Talli, you must be pleased.
ReplyDeleteWe went from a very warm Sunday on the beach to a very wet, wintery Monday, it is difficult to write in the heat (my excuse anyway)
I can beat you on the squishy stakes, we are 20degrees hotter!!
ReplyDeleteWill go and check out the pics :0)
Love the pics you chose! It is squishy in the states today, too, but most of us have air conditioning (maybe that's why we use up so much more energy than you guys? :-P)
ReplyDeleteTalli, your photos look great. I've just had some done too and it was a nightmare choosing which ones to use. (I've got one on my twitter page - it took nearly a day to decide on it. Tragic.)
ReplyDeleteHope the heat isn't too bad today, Clair x
Great pics Talli - and I am so glad I'm not in London. It's hot enough here by the sea!
ReplyDeleteThe east coast of the US has had a long stretch of 90F + days, so I can certainly relate to the heat.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I just posted a blogger award for you in my latest blog post; congrats :)
Here's hoping it'll cool down both there AND here soon,
Mohamed

Ah, the squishy days of the UK summer. I had 40+ years of them, and enjoy the sweltering heat of Cyprus more. It is not so humid.
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures you have selected!
