Sweet Sunday: Cadbury's Creme Eggs

Happy Easter Sunday! I started the day by making pancakes for my husband, a task even more difficult than scraping glumpy noodles from the bottom of a pot. The challenge, you see, is that we own no measuring implements to speak of (seriously - not even a measuring cup). We clearly love to cook, ha!

So, as I approximated the flour and the milk, I crossed my fingers they would come out all right. They tasted delicious, but as I said on my Twitter: If they were in a pancake pageant, they'd only win Miss Congeniality. (Are pancakes female? Hmmm...)

We topped off the pancake meal the only acceptable way on Easter: with a Cadbury's Creme Egg. Can it get more sugary than this? Thick chocolate, with gloopy faux-egg filling just oozing from inside. One bite and you're up to your teeth in rich creamy goodness.

What's your favourite Easter treat?

Yay that your pancakes came out not only edible but extremely yummy! Sometimes you just have to trust your instinct and go with the flow cos you never know what the result may be. It may be surprisingly good!

  2. I should make this official:
Hi, my name is Helen and I've never eaten a Cadbury's Creme Egg. I will admit, the picture is tempting, though.

  3. Old Kitty - LOL! Your hot-cross buns looked edible to me!

Helen - That is not acceptable. I cannot believe you have never had one. You must go try one, right now. Quick, head to the nearest corner shop, before it's too late!

  4. I had a Cadbury Egg once. It kinda grossed me out, and that's REALLY hard for something chocolate to do.

    Happy Easter!

  13. Happy Easter!! I made baked French toast. You prepare it the night before and bake in the morning -- tasted like bread pudding. To.Die.For!

Hope you're having a great day!

  14. I LOVE Cadbury Creme Eggs!!! Starburst Jelly Beans are a must, too. And my dad and I make homemade peanut butter eggs and coconut eggs every year, which probably are my ultimate fave.

Have a wonderful Easter eating all the sugary goodness!

  18. I like anything with dark chocolate. We had pancakes yesterday with homemade strawberry syrup. Yum. Come on over to my blog if you'd like a chance to win a copy of Marcus Chown's book, lots of nice memories being shared by my readers.

  24. You know how I feel about Creme eggs.................

*Woo hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!* (Just had one, slightly full of sugar).

    More.

    More.

    More.

Rather shocked that someone hasn't tried one...or DISLIKES THEM(!!) I believe that's a criminal offence in the south east.

    Well, it SHOULD be!!

    Happy Easter!

  25. Kit, I KNOW! Maybe we should introduce the deep-fried Mars Bar, hehe!

Although I *can* sort of see how there is something disgusting about sugar masquerading as egg yolk. The trick is to not really think about it and just EAT!

Jen, please tell me, what are Peeps?

Thanks everyone for the comments! Hope you're all having a great Easter!

  26. Happy Easter! What a breakfast. :D

My favorite would have to be the Cadbury caramel eggs. Hehee!

  27. Ooh Creme Eggs, yum. When Creme egg season starts it lets me know Easter is coming. Until then I have to eat the Creme Egg Twister bars. Not the same:(

  28. The mini peanut butter cups or the black jelly beans.

  29. I love Cadbury eggs but I didn't buy any this year - I love them too much! No measuring cups? I'm impressed you managed to make pancakes without them!

  30. Those eggs look so good. I've wanted one all day long. :)

  31. Oh my gosh, those sound delicious. Tomorrow begins my candy detoxification week. My stomach seriously feels SICK. But it's not Easter until someone gets a candy stomachache (or 10).

  32. More like, one bite and you're up for the next several hours, what with all that sugar. (hee, hee.)

No, that sounds so yummy. Cadbury eggs used to be my favorites. Now they're the the spring Lindt Truffles.

And not a single measuring cup even? I must admit that I hate measuring things too, so no great loss there. Still, looks like you've managed--Miss (Mrs?) Pancake satisfied you and the husband!

  33. The funny thing is, I don't even like cadbury creme eggs. And yet they are like this Easter tradition. We HAVE to have them. I think I ate two or three today. :)

Everything else I wanted to make I couldn't b/c we were out of eggs....

  34. I completely forgot to buy Cadbury eggs this season and now I can't track any down :(

Several years ago I worked in Brazil & my mom sent about a dozen Cadbury eggs down because I loved them so much. What a hit! My Brazilian friends still talk about them.

  35. Hello Talli! That huge creme egg in your photo made me slightly nauseous. I love chocolate 32% more than the next girl, but creme eggs are just too much for me.

    And yes, pancakes are female.

    Love the new blog!

  36. I'm ashamed to say I totally missed the boat on Cadbury eggs this Easter! But I did stock up on Peeps, which are my absolute favorite Easter treat. Not sure if they're just in the U.S.? Hopefully not, because they're delicious!

  37. Each spring, I used to have a Cadbury creme egg, but since they've offered the caramel ones, those are my favorites. I just ate one today!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Please, someone tell me, what are Peeps? I'm dying to know!

  40. Peeps are yucky (to me)! They're marshmallow in the shape of a chick, without that sort of coating around the marshmallow. Instead there's a sugary coating in a bright yellow around it. But a friend of mine loves them.

  41. I love peeps, and I hate marshmallows! They're not very marshmallowy at all. It's like almost gooey, okay, like a marshmallow that's been roasted. with a sugary outside. Love them.
