Sweet Sunday: Creme Brulée

I think this one is a 'love it or leave it' kind of dessert, but I happen to love it! If it's done properly, there's paradise to be found under the crispy sugary coating.

Tap your way through the top and ladle a spoonful of smooth creamy goodness into your mouth.

I always tunnel through the surface, eat the cream, then finish it off with a blast of sweetness sticking to my teeth.

Thank you to everyone who gave me an award this week! I'll pass them on shortly!

  4. I've never had creme brulee! But it does look lovely. My problem is I always choose the dessert with chocolate!

My husband makes it for us each Thanksgiving, it is divine.

  10. You know, I've never liked custard so I don't enjoy it the way so many other people do. I guess I wouldn't like flan either, haha. But I do like it when other people have it, so I can watch when the waiter flames their sugar. Flames are cool.

  16. I love creme brulee and you're right, it has to be made right. You got some awards did you? Well, guess what....I have something for you too!
(funny how with blogger when you save something and then publish it a day later it's not dated by the publish date)

  20. Favorite. Dessert. Ever. I used to live in a place that had the BEST creme brulee, and I haven't eaten any better since. Sigh.

  21. I'd ask for the recipe but a chef would need to be included. (I cook, but not breakfast items.)

  22. When I was a features writer and did some restaurant reviews, I was asked if I would do a round-up of best creme broulee. Then the editor decided they didn't have the budget to send me to a bunch of high-priced restaurants. Le sigh.
I love creme broulee. Mostly I like it traditionally as you describe, but I recently had one in an Italian restaurant that had some dark espresso sauce. Oh. My.

  23. Oh, I'm so glad to hear my passion is shared!

Tricia - espresso sauce! YUUMM! (*wipes drool*)

  29. I used to work in a bakery and had to make these. I'm not a big sweets fan because of working in the bakery. The way you describe it can make anyone's mouth water. :)

  33. Delicious. I can't believe that some people have NEVER had a crème brulee. They ought to be obligatory.

  34. I love this dessert. So rich and decadent.

  35. Creme brulee is the best! I don't think I'd try to make it myself. But that's just as well. LOL

  36. Uh oh. I blame you when the number on my weighing scale refuses to change!!

  37. I love, love, love creme brulee. My 11-year-old son recently invented banana brulee, which has less calories.

  38. I think this ranks up with some of my favorite desserts. Whenever we're out to a restaurant I either order the 'creme brulée' or the 'mousse au chocolate' and if I'm really feeling it, a 'moilleux au chocolate'- which can be like an orgasm on a plate. Seriously.

  39. Seriously, people, if you haven't tried this YOU MUST! And that's an order.

  40. Oh, am I glad you're a brulee girl! Happiness to me is cracking open the sugary lid of a warm creme brulee:)
