Ferry on the Mersey River. When I did this a few years ago, I nearly froze my arse off.

Breaking News - I'm Leaving the Flat!
The unthinkable is happening. Not only am I leaving my flat, I'm leaving London! Yes, I am going to venture out into the wide world... all the way to Liverpool -- for the weekend, anyway. So, I thought I'd leave you with a few things for which Liverpool is known (see how awkward that sentence is? Really, ending sentences with prepositions should be fine! It should! See, this is why I need to leave my flat).

Talli I've missed your posts all this time I've been away! Must scrape time together to reenter the blogosphere!
ReplyDeleteI've been to Liverpool once, just to go shopping! Ha, that was fun! Have you been to the Beatles Museum? It's supposed to be awesome!
Have a great trip!
Have fun, Talli! I love the looks of that bar - looks like a great place to spend some quality time. :)
ReplyDeleteI've never been to Liverpool but it looks like a great place to visit. Have fun on your trip!
ReplyDeletep.s. I'm not a Beatles fan either.
Love the ferry pic, with the Liver birds in the background....
ReplyDeleteAnd no, you're not the only one not to appreciate the Beatles...
Have a great time in Liverpool!
ReplyDelete-I nearly froze my arse off-.
Sounds like something John Lennon would haves said.
I am not much of a Beatles fan myself to be honest. I used to work in a retro-themed diner chain in Dublin called Eddie Rockets and they played the Beatles incessantly. I like 'Fool on the Hill', 'Come Together' and 'Paperback Writer' (for obvious reasons!) and that's really it. . .
ReplyDeleteHave a fab time in Liverpool!
I've never been so have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteLovely pics, Talli. Have been knocked out lately by bad health, but am making a comeback. Such a pleasure to return to your blog!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend! Love the pics!
ReplyDeleteHow about for the world class museums with the largest Egyptology collection after the British Museum in the UK?
ReplyDeleteHow about for the Anglican and Catholic (known as Paddy's Wigwam) Cathedrals, which are linked by Hope Street? (and the fact that the Anglican was designed by a catholic, and the Catholic by an Anglican?
What about the Three Graces, and in particular the Liver Building, topped by the iconic Liver Birds?
How about two premier football teams?
What about the Prime Ministers we've produced? Canning had an affair with the Prince Regent's wife, ffs! Why isn't that better remembered?
Howe about the Pyramid on Rodney Street, were Scottish businessmen Andrew McKenzie is interred wearing full evening dress and sat at a poker table clutching a winning hand?
How about the dark heritage of a city built up from the slave trade?
The architecture?
What about the redbrick UNiversity of Liverpool? Or the newer Liverpool John Moores University?
How about the poetic heritage?
What about the enitre Merseybeat sound, and the continuing rich culture of music?
How about Sefton Park, with the stunning Pavillion?
There is so much more to Liverpool than the Beatles and WAGs - although I'll refrain from mentioning the less savoury aspects! I'm proud of my old city :-)
Liverpool is a lovely city...have a fab time!
ReplyDeleteC x
Sangu, you're home! Yay! Hope you had a good trip.
ReplyDeleteDamyanti, good to see you again, too!
I'm so glad I'm not the only person to not appreciate the Beatles.
Gemma, you're right! There is so much more to Liverpool than what I depicted. I was going to put more in but I got lazy and tired of finding photos!
Enjoy your weekend! Have fun. :)
ReplyDeleteLiverpool is becoming very fashionable again. It is a very friendly place.Never been a huge fan of the fab four either.
I think ending in prepositions should become the new fashion.
And me! I know, I know, the world doesn't revolve around me really... :) x
ReplyDeleteif you want to get the beatles try the white album, i could never get into them either but theres some really awesome different kind of songs on that one, have a great trip though!
ReplyDeleteHi Talli .. great hook - I thought the world had gone square .. but no - you're just going north .. but enjoy - it is the City of Culture .. or was .. so should be very entertaining ..
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the Church bar! Cheers Hilary
Ooohhh that sounds like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend, Talli!
ReplyDeleteHave a great time in Liverpool!
ReplyDeleteI don't really like the Beatles, either.
Have a wonderful time! Great pics. And I've learned alot from Gemma Noon's comment!
ReplyDeleteAnd...The Beatles are important. Perhaps to appreciate them one must understand that music was in a horrible maudlin rut (and I mean horrible maudlin rut. I was there, I lived through it.) The Beatles turned music on its ear, opened the box everyone was living in and let in a whole lot of light. I seriously doubt the varieties of pop/rock music we have today would be in existence were it not for the Lads from Liverpool.
Liverpool can be proud to be the home of one of the greatest Renascences in music history in the the world.
Long Live The Beatles.
Have a wonderful time. I've never been to Liverpool, but hope to visit there one day.
ReplyDeleteI do love the Beatles.
Have a great weekend!
Have a great time and don't get too cold this time.
ReplyDeleteI love the look of that bar and can imagine it must be a fun place to visit.
Yes long live the beatles! and have fun Talli that is all that counts
ReplyDeleteNever been to Liverpool, I hope you enjoy your week-end' Have fun.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.
So jealous! Would love to go to many of the places. And where does WAGs come from anyway? Wives and Girlfiends? Where's the "of famous footballers? That would be so much better.
ReplyDeleteThen they'd be WAGOFFS.
Um yeah. That's supposed to say "these places."
ReplyDeleteNot appreciate the Beatles?! Are you mad, woman?!! :-) And isn't "Ferry on Mersey" a song?
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend! And by the way, I'm hosting a First Gifts Blog Hop next weekend! EVERYONE is invited! See my blog for all the gory details; any help in mentioning on your blog would be appreciated. And, of course, please join us! Would luv to hear any "First Gift" stories from you. :-)

I need me a leopard spotted velour training outfit. Just saying. Have fun in Liverpool!
ReplyDeleteNo, you're not the only one who doesn't appreciate their music!! ha ha! But the world is a wonderful place isn't it, and even if I am a more of a Manchester girl, have a great time!! x

ReplyDeleteI love the Beatles.
CD

ReplyDeleteare you seriously going to ferry cross the Mersey? Have fun! And I totally missed out. What's a WAG??? That's some... outfit. ;p
ReplyDeleteLeaving London? Is this a good thing or a bad thing? I mean, clearly you're going to miss the city, and it looks like a beautiful city. I hope you have a good trip.
ReplyDeleteLooks amazing! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the move.I've lived in L'pool twice. Once when I was 2 years old with my family and then when I was at University. :O)
ReplyDeleteThank you, all! I hasten to add I am only leaving London for the weekend. As much as I'm looking forward to getting away... I do love London!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time in Liverpool. Enjoy!

ReplyDeleteYay!!! Liverpool should be warned - Talli is being set free for the weekend!!! Lock up your er... muffins!!!!

That bar looks absolutely amazing! Have a brilliant weekend away and look forward to hearing the results of the in-depth Cupcake Survey you will no doubt be carrying out while in Liverpool. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteWAGs? To me that stands for Women's Artistic Gymnastics. But that picture above your caption is not of gymnasts. Hmmm...
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend, Talli!!! Enjoy your little break!
Fantastic. Have a "fab" weekend. Funny enough I posted on Liverpool today. Stop by and check it out. It's very moving.

My husband isn't a Beatle's fan either. He'll be happy to know he's not the only one. Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteShame on you re Beatles :)
ReplyDeleteListen to Abbey Road. Still so cool.
You don't like the Beatles? So my hubby really isn't the only one? Wow. lol :)
ReplyDeleteHave a fun weekend in Liverpool, it will take your mind off things :)
ReplyDeleteThat bar looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteYour friend Carol...the Beatles fan :)
Oh no, for a second I was fooled & really thought you were leaving London!
ReplyDeleteAh, I discovered what WAGs are & they have nothing to do dogs & their tails...or do they?
So don't say hello to the Beatles for me but do appreciate being able to say that you were surrounded by Liverpudlians!
WHERE ARE THE LAMBANANAS?! You can't go to Liverpool without celebrating Lambananas!
ReplyDeleteVery cool photos, Talli. I've never been to Liverpool. Hope you have a great time.
ReplyDeleteJEALOUS!!!!! Have a great time! You definitely deserve a break!
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a nice break from the flat!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'm totally out of touch - you need to say more. What are WAGs?
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll have a wonderful weekend in Liverpool! :)
ReplyDeleteA Bar in a church? Have a great time!
ReplyDeleteHave an awesome weekend girly!
ReplyDeleteThe picture of the docks is amazing! Enjoy the weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteA bar in a restored church? That's a blessed establishment!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend Talli! Enjoy Liverpool! :)
ReplyDeleteferry cross the Mersey, Liverpool, the Beatles-- I'm feeling a Sixties flashback coming on.
ReplyDeleteNot one song from the Beatles. Where do I begin? Anyway, what's a Wag? And a Wag in a leopard outfit from head to toe? I can only image. Have fun on your getaway excursion.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteLast time I went on the Mersey ferry I almost chundered - that was just watching it come in, apparently it's not normally that rough!
ReplyDeleteHave a great trip!
And then there's the accent, which is one of my favourites. Liverpudlians have a great sense of humour and, combined with the accent, make for wonderful funny-story-tellers. Hope you have a great weekend there. (You don't like the Beatles? I may have to reconsider whether to still follow you or not ....)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your trip, and don't forget to dress warm!
ReplyDeleteHave fun!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a Beatles fan, for the record, but Liverpool looks intriguing.
ReplyDeleteHave a great time in Liverpool! How fun. (And I'm not a huge Beatles fan, either)
ReplyDeleteI was about to add Rebeca Ferguson to your list (she's from liverpool!), but thats just too much fanatism on my part. Besides, the X factor is more of a comedy show rather then anything else. Are you watching it Talli? Louis said yesterday Wagner reminds him of a young Elton John...WTF! Well, but its entertaining lol!
ReplyDeleteHave fun!
Another thing for which Liverpool is known: The Tate. I hear it's very good.
ReplyDeleteHave a fab weekend! Thanks for the pics. Cheers~
ReplyDeleteOoh, how exciting! Have fun! :) I love the pictures!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend Talli!
ReplyDeleteWow! That would be my favorite bar as well... fabulous! I hope the weekend was a blast!
ReplyDeleteI always fancied taking a look see at Liverpool since it became the UK centre for Culture.
ReplyDeleteI've found that people are either into The Beatles, Elvis, Michael Jackson or Queen. All musical tastes can be broken down into one of those four :P
