While I can't write to music, I do like to have a little theme tune running through my day. What that tune is usually depends on what's happening in my writing world.
First Draft: Rollin' rollin' rollin', keep them doggies rollin' (otherwise known as Rawhide).Yeah baby! Just keep writing, don't stop, move forward. . . oh wait, I'm hungry.
Revisions: What's in your head, in your head, zombie, zombie, ZOMBIE. Do I need to explain this? Perfect head-banging music when I just want to figure out what THE HELL I'VE WRITTEN.
Finished Product: Shake, shake, shake it! I feel just like the penguins, minus the gyrations. Usually my arse is so sore from sitting for ages that I really do need to shake it! And it jiggles. TMI? Sorry.
Pre-Publication: 19th Nervous Breakdown. Because I have a nervous breakdown just about every day before my book launches!
What's your theme tune today? Happy Wednesday, everyone!

Haha! Oh yeah, 'keep them doggies rolling.'
ReplyDeleteNo theme tunes for me. I can't write to music in the same room - the rhythm and/or words get in the way. However, I quite like it in the background of another room.
ReplyDeleteGotta love Zombie!
ReplyDeleteMy theme tune would probably be, "Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming. What do we do? We swim, swim."
Hope you're having a great week, Talli!
I usually just sing songs about my dog - sad but true, just ask my kids.
ReplyDeleteEm, I love that tune!
ReplyDeleteJanice, I'm the same. I can't write to music, but away from the desk I often have a little tune in my head!
Laura, ha! That's perfect!
Susan, you sing songs about your dog? :) I'd love you hear them!
ReplyDeleteToday my theme tune is "I dreamed a dream" from Les Miserable. I recently went to see the musical and ever since I've had Susan Boyle in my head, singing that lovely song. Susan Boyle is much better than the actress in the play who I actually saw singing it.
ReplyDeleteJai
Thanks, Talli! At last, I'm in (and joined Network Blogs myself too.)
ReplyDeleteChristina Aguilera - "Fighter" keeps me going every day at the moment!
Although exactly same as you I can't write to music ;)
xx
Stray Cats! Well of course!
ReplyDelete:-)
Take care
x
lol...I don't really have theme tunes per se. I also write in silence. But I can certainly relate to yours.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.
Hm, today my theme would be background jazz as I finish up some writing loose ends and begin research on the next project ... Rock on Talli.
ReplyDeleteHahaha today it's the Sound of Silence. Didn't listen to a single song the whole day long. It's a rare occurrence.
ReplyDelete;-)
Never thought of it. Like Laura, I hear Doree the fish saying, "Just Keep Swimming."
ReplyDeleteUnwritten-Natasha Bedingfield : )
ReplyDeleteI just can't stop thinking how jealous I am you get to meet Jess. :(
ReplyDeleteHa ha! Great post, Talli.
ReplyDeleteI always write to music, and even make playlists for my books. Today., though, my theme tune has to be 'Under Pressure', as I'm finishing up some revisions to send to my editor tomorrow! Nearly there, though… :o)
My theme song today is "What's going on" - Marvin Gaye. Lol! Too much is going on and my brain needs to WAKE UP. Off to get third cup of coffee. Have a great day, Talli!
ReplyDeleteHa, love these! I don't know what my theme tune for today is, but it should be something productive--I want a busy writing day!
ReplyDeleteAhahah I love it! My current theme song ... I can't think of one but the Jaws music keeps coming to mind... DUN dun. DUN dun. DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN
ReplyDeletewhen i'm querying, it's always "take a chance on me" by Abba
ReplyDeleteTunes without words soon become jingles if any music plays in the background. I prefer the quiet if it is at all possible.
ReplyDeleteWhite Horses?
Love your themes.
I sometimes need appropriate music when I'm writing stuff that needs me to be in a certain mood. But I hate it when I wake up and something is going through my head. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteMy default tune is "polly wolly doodle"
I just have one theme song throughout the whole process. KILLING ME SOFTLY! :)
ReplyDeleteIf I'm brutally honest, it's the theme tune to Dad's Army. Can't shake it. Ridiculous ...
ReplyDeleteRight now its a pandora station set on Disney...sometimes I just need that :)
ReplyDeleteSarah Allen
(my creative writing blog)
Gotta be "Circus" by Britney Spears. The three rings are full and new acts are waiting to go on.
ReplyDeleteI listen to a lot of classical and movie score music when I write...
ReplyDeleteAt the moment, it's the main theme for Jaws.
I think today it would be "Keep on Runnin'" jusging by the quality of the scene I've just bashed out for my novel. Think I'll retire to the sofa with a glass of "Red Red Wine" Great posst, Talli x
ReplyDeleteHehe I now have the giggles.
ReplyDeleteI'm such phrase triggered singer.. The songs that pop into my mind give me the giggles.
Love music
I don't have a current theme tune to groove to. I tend to sing if there's lyrics or start to move and lose focus by singing if the instrumental is especially cool. But I can handle some classical music as white noise.
ReplyDeleteMy theme for today? Hmm... maybe "Awake and Alive". I'm ready to finish polishing this MS! :)
ReplyDeleteHa! I LOVE that! So perfect.
ReplyDeleteReally close to the breakdown right now!
ReplyDeleteI can't write to music either!
ReplyDeleteAwesome theme tunes :) I usually get 80s and 90s kids show theme tunes stuck in my head at inappropriate moments (Captain Planet seems to crop up a lot).
ReplyDeleteThis is great!
ReplyDeleteI love that you have theme tunes for the different stage of writing! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what mine would be.
Ha! An apt soundtrack for the writing process. This would make an excellent blogfest.
ReplyDeleteI loved that theme song from Rawhide and of course, the young, not Clint Eastwood.
ReplyDeleteI don't write to music because it distracts me.
Hi Talli .. I usually sit in silence - occasionally I'll put on the ipod and just let it flow (usually over my head) - sometimes a song will come with a particular reference - When I'm 64 was an easy one!!
ReplyDeleteCheers and have fun this weekend .. Hilary
I have an old story that seems to want to be rewritten. Popped back into my mind.
ReplyDeleteSo I guess my theme song today would be "Don't You Forget About Me" :)
I just saw free Build a Man and had to rush to Amazon. While I was there, I downloaded Watching Willow Watts too. Just got my Kindle yesterday. You're filling it up, Talli!
ReplyDeleteThat's funny Talli! Unfortunately, the lyrics in my head all day is usually the last music I heard. This continues right up until that I hear something else. Have yourself a nice week!
ReplyDeleteLove your soundtrack!
ReplyDeleteNow what would I pick... I kinda like the line from one of upcoming releases from Whisky Trench Riders: "...another round of beer and broken hearts."
