Gossip, Glitz and... Wine

It's Friday, oh yes it is! And wow, am I glad it's the end of the week. I've just come back from an autumnal run through Hyde Park in a bid to clear my head for yet more edits this afternoon, and every last bit of me feels exhausted. I'm not even sure I can patter over to the kitchen for chocolate, that's how bad it is.

But one more day of edits, and then Build a Man will pretty much be ready to send out to reviewers. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered -- I really appreciate it. If you'd like a copy for review, still plenty of time to let me know! And have I mentioned that over on my Facebook page, you can enter to win a paperback copy of Watching Willow Watts by naming one of Marilyn's husbands? To see the wall, just like the page if you haven't already, and scroll down to the second status. The paperback launches at the end of November, and I can't wait to hold my pretty pink book in my grabby little hands.

So... phew. Does anyone else feel like this autumn has been a bit of a whirlwind? Or for me, more like a tornado -- I've barely managed to retain my sanity (actually, that's still open for debate). In other news, Mr TR has finished filming, and has now joined me in the wonderful world of edits. If you like chopping, swearing and murdering words and/or scenes, our flat is the place to be!

What about you? What crazy thing have you been up to this autumn? And please don't say editing. Lord knows that ain't crazy. I want gossip! I want glitz! I want... wine.

  1. Yikes, I'm first to comment! Hoorah!!

Awww yay for profanity laden editing!! LOL!! Good luck Talli and Mr TR!!!!

I have absolutely no gossip or glitz to share but I do have a rather nice bottle of Shiraz...!! Just need to let it breathe a little.

  3. Editing... :((((

Badly. Well, tbh not even that - I'd call it slashing and burning and there's still a load more dead wood to go.

I'd much rather stay here and listen to all the gossip and glitz and maybe glug a glass of something gluggable.

Maybe your other readers can help? Come on, Talli's readers! Entertain her!

  4. I have no gossip or glitz, sadly, but I do have several bottles of wine in the fridge and you are always welcome to share x

  5. This month I have mainly been neglecting my blog, thinking about wine ... And then drinking it.

    Have fun!

  6. Thanks for the Shiraz, Old Kitty!

Jessica, I know what you've been up to, girl! :)

Nicola, you weren't supposed to say editing. Come on, now! But I'm glad someone else is feeling my pain. I'm at the stage now where I can't bear to look at another word, and every sentence is an effort. Argh...

Joanna, thank you! Bottles of wine in the fridge are always a good thing.

Rachel, you can buy me a drink at the RNA party. Good? Good! :)

    Sigh.

  8. Writing. :P Nano is going well so far.

No wine for me, thanks, at least not for several more months. Little Christopher needs to be born first. :)

  9. Leaves... I know not exciting unless... you have one too many martini's and find yourself thankful you never got around to raking. :)

  10. Autumn has been a whirlwind. I do not see life slowing down until after the holidays. I always think that but then after the holidays other stuff comes along and then I'll say maybe in the spring. Or summer. Whoa-it's fall again.

Enjoy your weekend and good luck with all the edits

  11. Good luck with your edits.

for me, this fall passed in a minute. I can't believe how fast time flies.

  12. Writing and family - talk about a whirlwind, and drinking wine every night to handle it all. LOL Okay, joking ... not every night, just most nights. <3

  13. I know exactly what you mean. Seems like yesterday it was spring.

  14. Editing too! ))):

But Friday night is for chilling out and erm, wine...!

  15. Rock climbing, of course.

And surely you can manage a chocolate forage... it's one of life's great pleasures, after all...

  16. No editing, yet. I'm doing Nanowrimo and of course this is the time family decides to visit, my quarter horse got stuck and came up lame and my Great Dane is in season and we have a neighbor's lovelorn Basset hound (from two miles away) trying to borough under her fence to get to her. sigh.

Horse is doing a bit better. He lost about 200+ pounds and looked awful and still does, but not as bad. I've been working on him every day with massages, meds, brushing and general babying.

As for the hound...I'm considering recipes that feature Basset. Crappy neighbors can't keep him confined--that would be too easy. Apparently, this being the country, they feel he has a right to run free. Hmmm

  17. Talli, I came here for gossip, because I've been editing all month..... Ok in the abscence of gossip, then can't wait to read your new book, Building a Man, now that should be interesting. x

  18. Writing for me, I'm afraid. Not much gossip. Trying to keep my head above water.

  19. I haven't been here in awhile - I can't get over how much you accomplished! I'm just back from New Orleans and need to dry out - perhaps no wine for me (ha, ha, ha). Congratulations to you Talli!

  20. You can do it! Runs always help me, too. This autumn has been crazy for me, but the summer was much, much worse, so I've actually been doing some writing this fall, which is good. Time for the gym :)

  22. Hi Talli, back from my travels and trying to catch up with all my favourite bloggers. You have been busy while I have been away enjoying myself. I think I am already on the list to review Build A Man, but please check for me. Having been away so long is not good for the brain cells, what is left of them that is!

  23. Good luck to you and your husband with the editing! I'm sure it's a painful process, but you will survive :)
    And now, gossip...
One of my (relatively young) friends has become a grandfather. His granddaughter is named Matilda.

  31. I wish I had something glitzy to say, but really... it's been a pretty mild autumn as far as the spectacular goes. But I've been super busy with drafting. :)

I have been doing fun "Fally" things with the fam. Harvest fests, pumpkin patches, etc.

  37. It's spring here, and we've just had our very first summer-like day. That meant eating Mexican down by the beach, then going for a long walk with gelato. Last night it was a lovely glass of wine in a French bar in the city. There go you, wine!

I'm in the middle of a brief respite, however, and plan to enjoy this weekend.

    Happy Guy Fawkes Day!

Enjoy what's left of the weekend.

  51. Fall has been a whirlwind... I went to Washington, D.C. at the beginning of October and just came back from World Fantasy Convention in San Diego. My day job is killing me. Oh wait, that's not glitzy at all :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. I've been missing from the world of blogging for a while Talli and am really surprised to see you already have another book at a completed stage. You really are a demon on the keyboard aren't you!

I'm in my last week of a self imposed deadline, so I have my nose to the grindstone.(mostly)

    ReplyDelete
  53. I too have that weary autumnal feeling but, fear not, it has nothing to do with editing. It's the after-effects of a fab holiday in Jerusalem... although I could still crawl across the floor for chocolate so I do worry about your present state of mind!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Nothing glitzy here - just family and NaNaWriMo and dogs and mud.

Just finished Watching Willow Watts - thoroughly enjoyed it and now looking forward to your next:-)

  55. Dang, Talli! This is book #3, right? You totally rock and continue to inspire me. Good luck with those edits, girl!

  60. Gossip, glitz and wine hey? Hmmm - not so much, well apart from the wine, which I'll invite you to share at a BBQ in the lovely spring weather we're enjoying here. Hope the editing becomes a little less tumultuous soon. Keep up the running!
