The Day After

Next week I promise to return to more serious posts (okay, semi-serious), but as I'm struggling to recover from potent Cosmos and one glass of champagne too many, I thought I'd share a few pics from the Romantic Novelists' Association party last night. It was another fun-filled evening, chock full of writers, editors and agents.

We started off early, meeting for a Tweet Up at Waterstone's Piccaddilly. It's a bookshop with a fabulous bar! And coffee shop! Have you ever heard of anything so cool? That's me becoming overly familiar with my ear, talking to the lovely VV Savage and Catherine Miller.

After a failed attempt to get a cab at The Ritz (it started raining and instantly, all cabs disappeared), we hopped the Tube, rescued Jane Holland from the evil Tube doors, and finally made it to the beautiful Library of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers.

Lots of fun was had by all (including the coat hanger, which I tackled at the end) and while my feet and head are suffering slightly today, it was a great night.

Anyone got some hangover remedies?

  5. Looks like everyone is having a great time. That's a beautiful library.

A bubble bath is a good hangover remedy. Or check out this bath ballistic from Lush. Or any any of the bubble bars.

  23. Looks like y'all were having fun. What fun to get to see the pictures!

Last night at the conference I'm at, I had my first dirty martini and my second one. I liked them more last night than I do today.

  24. It looks like you had a fabulous time Talli. I'm so envious of everyone there. Scotland seems so far from London sometimes. Sulk....

  25. LOL! Looks like fun, and I love that necklace! Hangover cure = sleep sleep sleep.

Seems like I read somewhere pineapple yogurt is good. The pineapple has some de-puffing quality or something and the yogurt has some good things going on.

Yes, I was really paying attention, can you tell? :D

  32. Looks like a fab time!! My only hangover remedy needs to be done before the hangover actually sets in. Gotta eat soemthing greasy before bed and I never wake up with a headache! Luckily there are two late night places near us to choose from!

  33. sounds like it was a fab night all round - good for you :) See, a beautiful pair of shoes demands a fab night out, and some suffering in the aftermath - my feet are still bruised and black from last weekend and looks like I'll lose a toenail - but the shoes were worth it!!!

  35. How fun, Talli.

It's so wonderful to get out to have a meet and greet in the literary world.

I need to immerse myself into that scene one of these days. I joined the SCBWI ages ago and I have yet to attend anything. I will make a conscience effort this summer.

  36. How completely wonderful!
And you all look gorgeous. What a fab time. I'm deeply envious!

  38. Looking at your pics and getting a sense of the fun you had, I realise I need to get out there and meet some fellow sydney writers. It must be nice to feel part of a community.

PS. You can't go wrong with ginger beer for a hangover cure.

  39. Lovely! Thanks for sharing this event with us - I wish there was a branch of the Romantic Writers' Association in Montreal - if I can finish editing my novel, I'm thinking of joining the American group and *gasp* trying to see if I can start a chapter myself...

  41. Looks like you had a good time. Too good in fact. Here is my bad advice: hair of the dog that bit you. And if you are too young to know that one - it translates to have another drink.
