Me and Mr TR on the Cotswold Way, six years ago
Seven years ago today, I arrived in the UK. I knew no-one, I had no job, and I really didn't know what to expect.
Now, I'm married, I'm a British citizen and I have three books published with another on the way. Looking back on that day when my plane landed at Gatwick on a misty May morning, I can't believe how far I've come. And I wouldn't have it any other way! I've made my home in London and fallen in love with (almost) everything about it.
So... here's to the UK! Cheers!
On a completely unrelated note, I'm guesting over at Pauline Barclay's website, talking about how I have no self-control. Sad but true.
Congratulations! I love that I'm the first to comment as well on the subject, just makes me feel fancy!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing journey I'm sure and I love that you share it with us! Mr TR is one lucky guy!
Congratulations! Yours is such a serendipitous story. Just like a movie. Ah, is that a storyline I hear brewing?

ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoy my old country. Your journey has proven to be a wonderful one, long may it last.
ReplyDeleteAlmost six years ago (June 7th) I left the UK for Cyprus. I will never return to the UK unless circumstances change. It is great to have adventures in life. If I hadn't left, I would never have met you via blogging. I would still be working 12 hour nursing shifts, and not writing. Life is good. :)
Happy Britiversary, Talli!
ReplyDeleteI can relate to what you say!
ReplyDeleteJune 2, will be ten years that I moved to Florida from Colorado. It was a struggle at times, but I never looked back. I am working, I am married to a kind and good man.( two years on June 7) I feel very lucky.

Talli, I find you worthy of admiration, because I have also gone through the process of immigration. I know how difficult it is. You've done a great job :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Such an amazing story. It's funny how life can change in an instant in ways you never imagined or expected.
ReplyDeleteWow your hair is so dark. That's how you know a long time has passed.
ReplyDeleteHappy Britaversary.
I just read your interview with Rebecca Bradley and loved it. It reminded me that I haven't been over here for a while. I think you've re-designed it since I last visited. I love your name surrounded by sparkly stars. Fits you perfectly since I suspect you're as sparkly as your writing. This is your genre. You're brilliant at it. And I can hardly wait to read Watching Willow Watts. That alliteration is awesome. A title to remember!
ReplyDeleteWow. What a long way you've come in only seven years. And how far you might go in the next seven! I'm happy for you!!
