Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a good week? Here in London, the city is awash with confused tourists, traffic snarls, and copious doses of Olympic fever.
But none of that matters. Because . . .
It's finally summer! Yes, my friends, after months and months (and more months) of rain and grey skies better suited to winter, the sun has made an appearance just in time for the start of the Olympics. It was lovely yesterday, too, and we took advantage of it by strolling through nearby Kensington Gardens with lunch at the Serpentine Lido, then a quick jaunt through Yoko Ono's exhibit at the Serpentine Pavilion.

Kensington Palace in the Sunday sun. |

A sculpture across a branch of the Serpentine Lake. The reeds are the highest I've ever seen them, thanks to all the rain! |

Yoko Ono's wish tree, where members of the public write their wishes on paper and attach them to the tree. |
I will be making the most of this week's good weather, but I'll be back on Friday with a post from the lovely Amy Saia. See you then!
Looks lovely! I wish I was in London.
ReplyDeleteAhh, this weather is so perfect! Love the photos!
ReplyDeleteGlad you have sun! I kept trying to send our sun and heat to you.
ReplyDeleteYay, I'm so glad London is getting sunny weather!! I love the Olympics and been following all the pre-Games coverage, and one of the biggest concerns was all the rain you've had this summer. Thank goodness the sun is finally telling the rain to move over!!
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling the excitement of the Olympics coming to your town!
ReplyDeleteOh, that exhibition at the Serpentine Pavilion is on my list of things to see, what a perfect day you had for it yesterday! I cannot wait for the Olympics, the torch is coming just a street away from us here in Crouch End on Wednesday and I have tickets to Wimbledon and Gymnastics during the games! Are you going to see any of the action? Hx
ReplyDeleteSo nice! I can't wait for the Olympics! My boys are fencers and I need to record the fencing competitions (at the minimum) so they can watch.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're enjoying the weather. London is one of the best places to be (in the whole wide world) when the sun smiles down and you can go off to the park with a pitcher of Pimms and a picnic. Lovely photos, too, thanks for sharing. Enjoy the Olympic opening ceremony--are you going? xx
ReplyDeleteEnjoy! And glad you're positive about all the hullabaloo with the Olympics. Tourists an traffic can be trying.
ReplyDeleteSuch an exciting time for London! We've been hearing about all the rain - I hope someone the sun takes over for the next few weeks!
ReplyDeleteYea for sun! Hope it stays shining for you all week, at least.
ReplyDeleteHeading over.
The weather here is great here too in Bournemouth, beach packed and happy children all about.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.
It looks like springtime in those pictures. Here everything is so dry. Can't believe the Olympics are ready to start, and yes . . . I'd better get that post sent off to you!
ReplyDeleteSunshine and the Olympics buzz makes it hard to get down to work - plus the weeds in the garden are calling my name
ReplyDeleteNothing better than London on a sunny day! Enjoy all the Olympic hoopla...I'm looking forward to seeing some of my favorite spots in the coverage. And the athletes too, but especially the city : )
ReplyDeleteLondon looks so beautiful! Enjoy the festivities!
ReplyDeleteSo nice to see that summer has finally reached good old England! Just in time for the olympics! I'm looking forward to watching on telly but I won't miss the traffic etc. Have a good week Talli!
ReplyDeleteYay for sunshine (it's about time!)
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. Sounds like you had a lovely day.
The Olympics...OOOH and the weather....double OOOH. Summer's in Portland and summers in England have a lot in common ;)
ReplyDeleteYes it is certainly lovely weather, managed a BBQ yesterday for the first time this year!
ReplyDeleteIt's a relief to see London is having beautiful weather for the Olympics!
ReplyDeleteAH! Perfect timing for the sun to start shining. I keep telling the hubs that I need to move to a place where it doesn't snow. It's not going to happen, but I can dream, right?
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the Olympics! :)
Oh I love love love this weather!! More please!!! Yay!!! Enjoy and have a great sunny fun filled week! take care

ReplyDeleteGlad to see the sun has finally arrived for you. Hope you are keeping well
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the weather (I feel like I'm melting lol) and once again you've taken some really gorgeous pictures :D
ReplyDeleteGlad about the weather forcast for you and the Olympics. I really don't like rain. I should retire to the desert.
ReplyDeleteVisited and forwarded your post to my daughter who watched to torch go by a noon today while she was on her lunch break. The last time it was warm/hot and sunny was from May 22 to May 28. That's when I was there.
ReplyDeleteYou could have had some of our summer...all you had to do is ask! :)
ReplyDeleteTake our summer. Please!
ReplyDeleteAwesome pics! Enjoy the warm weather and the Olympics.
ReplyDeleteGlad that you're getting some good weather for the Games :) It's practically melting in Cardiff so we should be in good stead when it all starts :)
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear London is warming up for the olympics - the rain has moved north to Scotland!
ReplyDeleteThose photos are gorgeous! The weather's really taken a turn for the better this week, and about darn time too if you ask me. Ahhhh sunshine! x
ReplyDeleteGood to know the weather improved in time for the Olympics. Running in the rain is no fun.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is finally here... But it's too darned hot now!!!
ReplyDeleteYay! Enjoy your summer, Talli. Thanks for sharing the lovely photos!
ReplyDeleteI had a great day walking along the beach - lunch in one village, drink in the next! Brilliant. Sea air has made me tired now though!
ReplyDeleteHi, Talli,
ReplyDeleteGreat pics! Glad you have the sun. I know I have enjoyed it for months in Florida. Now back home in Chicago and the weather here is warm and sunny too. Wonderful to be back home.
How exciting that the Olympics are in London this year. How cool! I had lived in Atlanta during the Olympics in the 90's. IT was CRAZY! I am sure it will be there too.
Enjoy the weather. The park is so lovely!
Enjoy that wonderful weather! Those pictures are so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteTalli: It must be more than a mere coincidence that I have just blogged about Laurence Juber and you mentioned "Here Comes The Sun"! We must be on the same page--so to speak! Have a good day!!! :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you finally got some sunshine! It must be so exciting that the Olympics are in London again this year! I think that this is the third time that they've been held in London. Great photos! Julie
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. I love summer!
ReplyDeleteIt's just wonderful here, too. Falmouth sparkles and glistens like diamonds - wouldn't want to be anywhere else!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos. Lovely day. Lovely sun. Enjoy. D
ReplyDeleteA wish tree?! What a gorgeous idea. Off to find you on Kim's blog...
ReplyDeleteLucky Londoners as I have noticed on the news that the weather is much, much better at home there than over here in Ireland. I have counted three, yes three, sunny days so far this month.
ReplyDeleteI think I am homesick :)
Enjoy the sun, Talli - here in Yorkshire we got one lovely day and then the weather failed us again. Just as I'd taken my jumper off too...
ReplyDeleteHooray hooray for the sun!!!! We have Olympic fever in our house too...can't wait! xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Talli! Nice to visit your blog again, and I hope you're enjoying the sun these days!! Enjoy that Olympic stuff too. :)
ReplyDeleteYou can have some of our summer. We're roasting over here! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy you'll have sun for the olympics. Enjoy! I can't wait for it to begin.
ReplyDeleteI'll agree with David ... I would gleefully share a bit of sweltering heat and hammering sun with you! It would ease a bit of our discomfort and lend a bit more sunshine to your Olympics. Thanks or the lovely words about my cover in your comment to Michael Di Gesu's blog. That was very kind of you.
ReplyDeleteLovely photosbut summer hasn't reached Scotland yet, well it did for one day. Think I'll have to move to England.
ReplyDeleteI like the Wish Tree. That's a great idea. We experienced the British Rcok n Roll Invasion during the 1960s and now you have the American Fat Tourist Invasion. At least that's what the media is saying.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to the Opening Ceremonies tomorrow!
Glad to see you have some nice weather for a change. I remember when the Olympics were in Los Angeles. Much excitement!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pictures, Talli!
