A Little Lamb

Happy Friday, everyone. You'll be pleased to know my new espresso machine has got quite a workout this week and is now thoroughly broken in!

Thank you all for your lovely comments on Wednesday's Willow post. I'm pleased to announce the winner of of the paperback copy is KimB, with two 'w' words! Yay Kim! Just email me your address (talliroland AT gmail.com) and I'll get the book in the post to you. More fun coming next Wednesday for the launch of Build A Man, wheeeeee!

This week, I've also been over at DD Scott's blog, talking about the museums behind the inspiration for my story, 'Miracle at the Museum of Broken Hearts'. DD is a wonderfully supportive whirlwind of a writer, so pop by to say hi if you get a chance. And at the Writer's Guide to E-Publication, where I post on Tuesdays, we're looking for help with nominations. Drop by to see what the heck I'm on about. There's some great resources on there for anyone looking to learn more about the ins and outs of epublishing. Finally, at Chick Lit Club, there's a chance to win  an e-copy of Build A Man. Oh gosh, sorry. That's not all. This week at Novel Kicks, there's an interview with me.

Yeah. I'm tired of me, too.

So how about a bit more me, ha? Well, tomorrow, I'm off to the RNA London Chapter's Christmas Party.  We meet every month at a wonderful pub in Bloomsbury called The Lamb.

Gorgeous, eh? It's located on Lamb's Conduit Street, which is partly pedestrianised and filled with lovely independent shops and boutiques. The pub was built in the 1720s, and just look at those 'snob screens'.

They're glass panels located at shoulder height, so customers could order more drinks from the bartender without being seen. Ah, to have lived in those times.

Want to see what I'll see tomorrow afternoon? Take a stroll down Lamb's Conduit here. Have a great weekend, everyone! I'll see you on Monday!

  2. You are wonderfully busy, which is a good thing. Sounds like things are moving along swimmingly.

I love the pictures of that pub. Very quaint and inviting while holding that "good times can be had" feel.

  11. Those 'snob screens' are fantastic. :) I also really wish it was possible to just take a stroll to end up in Bloomsbury. I think there's a lot of stuff in the way, though. :)

  12. Have fun with the gal pals. I need to hook up with some local writers and such. Maybe meet at an Irish pub though.

  13. I'd love to walk down Conduit Street and explore those shops and boutiques, do a little shopping, have a coffee. What a fun day you'll have ... Enjoy :)

  14. The Lamb looks like a fabulous place for a writer group to meet. We have a restaurant downtown Salt Lake called Lamb's Cafe.

  15. What great pictures. Thanks Talli! These were my old stomping grounds. You're making me miss London again-girl!

Oh -how I miss the energy of the pubs. I'm home-sick for London now!
Gee! Could sure do with a change from palm trees and Florida. You'll never get the London girl out of me.

Well, you have really been busy!
Expresso-eh? Yeah, expresso is good in that city life. Don't wash down as good over here at Stabucks for me under a palm tree. Actually, I'm waiting on a Keurig coffee maker, any day now.

Thanks for the links. Hope check out a few, and it's always nice to hear from you, buzzing here and there:)

    Good luck with the book!

  16. Enjoy your party! Man, every social even you go to is worlds more cool than any I'd go to, because you get to tack on "in London" to yours.

  19. Sounds like you've a full plate!! What better place for that than a pub :) Jealous!! The nearest pub here is 45 minutes away. Le sigh...but at least I have these pictures to tide me over!

    Happy weekend!

  20. I once received the world's most complicated expresso machine as a gift, but unfortunately I never figured out how to work it. lol Nowadays I just stick with my (extremely easy to use) one-cup brewer. Sounds like you've been super-busy...nothing a little caffeine can't help! :)

  21. I don't think I've been on that cute little street...guess I need a trip back : )

  23. I have just popped in from A Novice Novelist because I saw the title of your post and wondered if it was the same Lamb!

I was up for the running of that pub about 10 years ago, and almost gave up my pub in Westminster for it. Almost. It would have been a return to an area I knew well, as I ran a pub near Holborn Station for years.

Great post, I enjoyed reading this. Blow a kiss to Lamb's Conduit Street for me.

  27. I don't need no glass privacy panels so people can't see me drink. If I'm gonna get sloshed in public I'll drink out in the open. Looks like a fun place.

  29. Hi Talli .. Lambs Conduit Street is great isn't it .. I often wandered down there when my Dad worked nearby, and my mother was ill originally - it was my relief haunt.

Enjoy the weekend .. and all that's going on - happy days - cheers Hilary

How lovely! I'm good and truly jealous, I can imagine what a nice time that would be. I always love these sorts of get togethers, especially in such handsome venues!

Tall, did you ever read Sue Haasler's 'Two's Company' or 'Time After Time?' She writes some great pubs!
