The Reluctant Video Star

There's nothing more cringe-worthy than watching yourself on video, is there? Last weekend, Mr TR bought a new video camera and, to test it out, he decided to shoot a small video. With no other victims and under great duress, I grudgingly agree. Here's the result! Hope you enjoy watching more than I enjoyed starring.

  1. I should mention most of it is shot in Kensington Gardens, close to where we live.

There are a few shots in there of me looking really fed up - haha!

  2. Great Job! A charming glimpse of a much different world than mine. Your neighborhood is so much different than mine in Illinois, USA.

  3. I really love videos where people show where they live, there's so much diversity in the world and what might be one person's boring walk to work can be another person's fascinating insight into another world!

I think I'd get beaten up if I shot a video of my neighbourhood, so here's one of my allotment instead! http://naturallylaws.blogspot.com/2009/07/allotment-update-video-now-with-added.html

Mr TR is very fond of zoomy zooming out though, isn't he! LOL

  7. What an amazing neighborhood, I'm ready to move! It looked very gray and cold tho, but that's okay, it's winter in London right LOL?

  8. Cool video! Your neighborhood looks pretty cool. And no snow!

  9. don't be too hard on yourself - Though I keep getting pushed to record my poetry and allow that out in the world, I can't do it. As most people I can't stand my own voice.

  15. I must say I've taken a fancy to your red coat, Talli! Very envious (and it looks warm) :)

  16. It's so pretty! And I know exactly what you mean about hating seeing yourself on video. Actually, I don't mind seeing myself so much (assuming I'm not mid-speech, in which case I always have a weird twisty-mouth facial expression going on), but I HATE hearing my own voice on tape or video. Ugh.

  17. Looks like a professional tourist video inviting us to go to London. It's a great time of year to visit as there aren't as many tourists about! Glad to see the snow's gone!

  19. Urgh, I know how you feel...I can't help but flinch and quiver when I see myself on tape. It's a very odd feeling haha. But this is a great video, Talli. :) Thanks so much for sharing!

Your husband must think your best side is your backside. It's okay - you're married, so it's legal for him to think that!

I so need to visit you! You'd be able to take me to all the awesome spots in town!

  50. Cool vid, love the zoomy bits, and at least Mr TR only used you as a focal point to come back to you now and then and didn't follow you from behind around Kensington.

Nice sign-off skip and kiss - I think you should keep that as your trademark move! And get used to being on camera - you'll be on many more films and interviews.

  51. This was a lovely little peek at your corner of London. Mr. TR did an excellent job with the music and assorted shots and perspectives.

  56. What a beautiful place! You did a great job of not looking freaked. :)

  57. Looks like a cool neighborhood. Spotted a bookstore so that's always a good sign. The music made me feel it had like a 70's vibe or something. Kept waiting for kung-fu masters to jump out and attack you.

  58. Hey Talli, I was going to say how I liked your house and garden, ha ha. Don't you look spiffy!

Read your previous post and am so glad the new cover has made the difference it has! Would have been better at the beginning, but it is great you weren't left with the original if it wasn't reaching the target audience. I hope your sales continue to climb!

A new Publication Party started today with our lovely Clarissa Draper (replete with her picture!) If you can come by, it'd be great. I'm sure you'll love to read what Clarissa has to say.
