Your Worst-Ever Date!

Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a great weekend. It was a rainy and yucky one here in London. Ugh!

Starting today, a group of chick lit writers - including me -  are banding together for Valentine's Week to share our own romantic (or not!) experiences. Head over to Michele Gorman's blog to read about our worst-ever dates.  I have to admit, answering some of the questions to come brought up some memories I'd prefer to forget! Pop by Michele's blog each day for a new question.

And now, since I hear Lobster Baby's increasingly lobsterish cries, I must be off! Have a lovely week!

What was your worst-ever date? Care to share?

  1. Oh, worst ever-date? Probably the boy who had dumped one of my friends several months before who asked me to see a movie 'as friends.' I unfortunately learned during the movie that no, he asked me out on a date. I high-tailed it out of there. :)

    1. Yikes. Sounds like a recipe for disaster. Good thing you got out of there fast.

  3. Valentine's Day, when I was 18. My boyfriend had just learned to drive, and he thought it would be nice to go for a drive up on Dartmoor. You know, that place that's almost completely void of anything but ponies and the occasional nutcase. Being February, it was pitch black and freezing, and the car broke down. We had little clue exactly where we were and it was getting late because Dartmoor isn't THAT close to where we lived. We called for the AA to come find us, shivering, and me kind of miffed that THIS was how we spent our first Valentine's Day. It took the AA van a while to get to us, and when he arrived, he asked us to try and move the car. It worked first time. The car had frozen in the parking space, which was why it wouldn't move, but while we'd been waiting, the ground thawed, and we didn't need to get the nice, friendly man out of bed in the middle of the night!

  7. Worse date? When this guy wouldn't take me home when he said he would and he went speeding down a road at 100 MPH. I thought I was going to be raped and murdered. Luckily neither happened. But I sure was scared.

  8. Lobster baby??Oh, that made me smile. Worst date ever was the stupid prom. Best date ever was my first, up in a little two-engine plane, the same guy that taught me how to steer with my knees!

  9. I've never been on a date. Well, yet, anyway--maybe once high school's over. So no horror stories to tell. :P

  10. I went roller-skating with one boy (well before roller blades) and I was completely and totally hopeless. I'm usually fairly athletic, but this was soooooo bad!

  11. Oh dear there are so many options. I'll go with the date that I didn't KNOW was a date - his car broke down so my roommate picked him up, and we watched a DVD at my house. It was The Clockwork Orange. If you're unfamiliar with that movie, it's an AMAZING film but definitely NOT date material. It's basically the antithesis of romantic. Then he attack-kissed me in the car when we dropped him off at his apartment. I can confidently say it was the worst kiss I've ever had. It may have been the worst kiss in the history of the world, Talli. It just might have been.

He was baffled as to why I didn't care to speak to him afterward, and assured me that he understands that women like to turn guys down the first time to "play games." I assured him, firmly, that I was not playing any games and was definitely not interested in his advances. AWKWARD TURTLE.

  12. Oooh I shudder to even think of it (and years later can afford a little giggle) but there is NO WAY I'm sharing my worst date details. I'll just enjoy reading about everyone else's instead!

  13. Hi Talli .. I fall into the 'I don't want to remember ... or be reminded' scenarios ... better to remember the good times -

Great to hear Lobster Baby's still calling the tune!!

This yucky weather is very slowly improving and those Hyde Park walks will be wonderful soon ... cheers Hilary

  14. It was a second date and we went to a friend of mine's house for a party. My date didn't drink (didn't realize this until we got there) but I enjoyed myself. My friend was a guy and I admit I flirted with him at the party. (One of those always be friends even though there's something there kind of things.) Then on the way home, I threw up. Obviously, there was no third date. And upon reflection, I'm sure my date would say that was HIS worst date. LOL!

  15. Mine was probably being stood up by a guy I didn't realize was gay...and ending up having lunch with his boyfriend. Don't ask, lol. In fact, it wasn't so bad in the end, just a little embarrassing.

  17. My programmer is trying to convince me to move to
.net from PHP. I have always disliked the idea because of the costs.
But he's tryiong none the less. I've been using Movable-type on several websites for about a
year and am nervous about switching to another platform.
I have heard fantastic things about blogengine.net. Is
there a way I can import all my wordpress posts into
it? Any help would be really appreciated!

  20. You really make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find
this topic to be actually something that I think I would never
understand. It seems too complex and very broad for me.

I am looking forward for your next post, I'll try to get the hang of it!

  23. That would, hands down, be the one where the guy complained about the food after ordering the most expensive meal in the place while we were struggling university students. And I was buying because it was his birthday. And I didn't like him and wanted to dump him but couldn't... because it was his birthday. HOWEVER he made me realize just how wonderful that guy was who lived across the courtyard. (Married him!)

  24. I don't think I've ever had a truly awful date. Awkward yes, but awful not really. Hope you're doing well : )

  25. Baby Lobsters grow fast-he is adorable!!! enJOY! oooh, I think I dumped him before the awful date, lol. He called me up, "Hey, let's go do something-your pick." I wanted to go roller skating-no didn't want to do that. How about a movie-no he didn't want to do that... Let's go bowling-he said "yes"...
I thought it was my pick-then he said, I should pay and I said-bye!

  32. How wonderful that you live in London. I'm traveling to Europe again soon and deciding where else I want to go besides Spain, France, and ummm Bermuda (not sure that is considered Europe?) I don't drink wine, but I do love coffee!

Worst date? I think I fall into the "rather not bring that one up" category!
