One Thousand and One Thank Yous!

I already know it's going to be a great week. Why? Because my blog has now topped one thousand followers! I'd like to thank everyone over the past year and a half who has read, commented and supported me and my novels. It means the world to me.

*sniff sniff*

Okay, enough sap for a Monday! Today, I'm over at fellow RNA'er Nell Dixon's blog, talking again about why I don't talk about writing. (I seem to talk a LOT about not talking, though!) And I've spent the past hour or so recording my vlog, resplendent in my Marilyn wig and dress. Oh yes. Drop by Wednesday (launch day!) to see it and cringe.

And I'd be remiss, of course, if I didn't mention launch day and the 'If I Could Be Anyone, I'd Be...' web splash this Wednesday! Even if you're busy that day and can't post, you can still tweet, FB or G+ it! Use the tag #watchingwillowwatts or tag me on FB and G+ (Talli Roland) so I know you've taken part, and you can be entered in the draw for priiiiiizes! Fingers crossed it all goes to plan!

Until then, I'd like to know: what funny piece of writing advice would you give to someone?

Mine would be this: Never keep a full packet of Twizzlers within arm's reach of the laptop. The aftermath is not pretty.

  3. So excited for you!!! Can't believe we're coming up to web splash day! You'll knock it out of the park (as usual).

My advice: Don't use commas, to separate text unnecessarily.

  4. Forget about washing those dirty dishes as a procrastination tool. Just get back to work already!

  8. Congrats on your 1001 followers!

Never write if you've drunk so much wine your fingers keep slipping off the keys.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Congrats!! My advise: keep your cell phone handy so people don't think your nuts while your brainstorming out loud and in public. =)

  13. Looking forward to Wed.

I can't top Carol Kilgore's advice, so just enjoy the journey with trips to Paris, kissing Mr. TR every time you're tempted to stress or complain, and always keep a bottle of good vino on hand.

  14. My advice: Never have your laptop with you while you're in the kitchen. That's just too close to the freezer-chocolate ice cream (input your fave here).

  15. You deserve ALL the love in the world! :o) Um ... my advice ... check on the dog if you hear her scratching at the front door, or ... keep a mop handy. :o)

  20. I'd say to be careful about writing when you're in a bad mood, because then all of your characters will probably be in a bad mood as well. (That happens to my characters pretty often.)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Awesome, congrats on the 1000 followers!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Wow well done you 1,000+ !

Don't write when you're hungry, you'll have all your readers putting your book down to make themselves a snack!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Congrats on 1000!! Awesome stuff!

Looking forward to your Vlog and I'm still deciding on my character - thanks for the reminder!

  25. I'm glad that you have so many admirers of your talents :) As one of them, I have to say I love to read your posts and enjoy your sparkling personality.

  26. Always make sure you're sober and wide awake when you do a final read/edit on your ms. Otherwise you might find yourself talking about very important "pubic policies".

    :-)

THAT's never happened to me but I have sent some (less) silly typos off because of sleep-deprived edits!

Congratulations on the followers, Talli, you so deserve it! I'm so excited for you x

  36. Yay for a thousand and more to come loving!! Yay!!!

Funny writing advice: erm.. never listen to your fave Lady Gaga tune on youtube using headphones incase you start doing your karaoke version aloud.

    Take care

  38. Yay on the follower mark! You soooo deserve it.

My advice? Hmmm. Don't open a large bag on Peanut Butter M&M's while writing. You will eat them all. Or was that just me... ;)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Lol, I love the advice. I don't really have any funny advice, humor isn't exactly my strong point. I definitely appreciate funny advice though. :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Wow! l,000 followers! That is alot of followers! I can understand why! Cheers to you!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Wow - 1000+ IS a lot of followers - which just goes to show how fab and interesting your blog is!

My wise writerly advice: Contrary to popular theory - if you don't belive your own hype, how on earth will anyone else?!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Congratulations on your 1000th followers.
    Looking forward to Wednesday.

    Yvonne.

  43. Congratulations on 1000+ Followers! That's awesome!

My writing advice: It is largely preferable to avoid writing while trying to wing walk.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Congrats on your followers! Wow, 1000!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Congratulations on your mahoosive follower count.

My writing advice would be to leave the washing up, cleaning, ironing, and other general household duties till after writing goals are achieved. :D

    ReplyDelete
  46. I cannot wait for Wednesday! I will have to narrow down who I want to be. :P

    ReplyDelete
  47. congrats on 1000 followers!!!

Let's see, mine would be along the lines of "of you have to pee, stop writing and go pee. The manuscript will wait"
Because nothing is worse than trying to get in just a few more words while your bladder is screaming at you

    ReplyDelete
  48. CONGRATULATIONS, Talli! 1001 follows is brilliant!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Wow! Congrats on all of your success, Talli. Couldn't be happier for you!

  50. Congratulations Talli!

My advice: Make sure you have tissues for the tears of joy and tears of frustration. A sound proof room to scream in wouldn't be bad either.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Congratulations!!! My advice: be prepared to bring a notebook with you everywhere. Parties, bars, weddings--EVERYWHERE.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Looking forward to Wednesday! :)

My advice would be to remember to angle your laptop to the side when you're writing a steamy scene in the living room - surrounded by family.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Yay, 1000 followers! You deserve it- you have worked SO hard to get here! Here's to 1000 more this year!

Writing advice: Lemonheads + a whole day of writing = sores in the mouth (but great progress in the ms department!). Proceed with caution!

Also- if you are a mother and frantically typing notes on your phone during playdates, look up every once in while to make sure your child is not lying on the ground and bleeding.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Whoo! Congrats on the 1k followers!
    Here's my advice:

Coffee is a writer's greatest asset and their greatest downfall. Obey the laws of gravity when writing under the effects of caffeine - what goes up, always comes down.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Congratulations on 1001! Two nights ago I had a bag of caramel-covered popcorn within arm's reach of my laptop... It was bad! I ate the whole thing and then felt horrid!

I didn't know that the Kindle Store on Amazon.co.uk is for UK customers only... I just tried to buy Watching Willow Watts and it wouldn't let me :-(

    ReplyDelete
  56. Congratulations on your well-deserved follower milestone, and best of luck for web splash day!

My advice: if you have an attention-seeking puppy, do not expect him to just fall asleep in your lap while you write. Puppy will try and get under your hands for a pet, and end up doing a sdfhec lot of the sdlgsddljknbh typing for sdfghdo you.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Congratulations on all the followers!!!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Congrats on the 1000+ followers! That is awesome! :)
Wish I had heard Karen Walker's piece of writing advice a year ago... lol. So true!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Congratulations on passing the 1000 mark, Talli! I'm not surprised at all - your blog is always fun to visit!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Ditto for chocolate. However, with me, that's impossible.

    ReplyDelete
  61. 1000+ followers? CONGRATS!!!

My advice, don't eat anything sticky while working at your laptop. Sticky keys are not a writers friend.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Congrats. Funny writing advice... Hm. Nope. Not coming. How about this:

    Eat more cheese.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Hi Talli - fantastic yea what a lot of wonderful followers - brilliant news and you are an excellent blogger .. and author as I shall soon find out.

Brilliant - til tomorrow Ms Marilyn - Hilary

    ReplyDelete
  64. Congrats on your follower count. That's awesome!

Publication is bliss. After your debut, you get to do all the stuff the gurus say you can't.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Awesome stuff! - Talli, you're amazing, it's hardly surprising you have a thousand (and four) followers!

Well, my advice is never write a query letter when you need the loo and don't type when listening a song with lyrics you're fond of singing along to - it's amazing how often I've found myself typing them into my MS!

Coffee and wine for all!
