As a writer with the tag-line 'I drink coffee. I write. Then I have wine', you might have guessed that fluids are very important me. Not just any fluids, though. For me, water is dull; juice is, well, juice.
But coffee -- oh! Wine -- oooohhhhhhhh!
I can't imagine not starting the day with a shot of caffeine. As instant coffee is a definite no-no, I head for the machine, ladle in a scoop of espresso grind, and wait for the magic to happen. So strong it's almost soupy, I throw in a bit of milk for fun and then toss it back. Ummm.
I'm not much of a drinker during the day, but I might have the odd glass of water or two just for a bit of distraction. The real fun begins when my working day is done and it's wine o'clock.
Wine o'clock is movable, thank goodness, and it all depends on a state of mind. Some days it's early; some days it's late, but you can rest assured that at some point or other, it will be wine o'clock in the Roland household. A little bit of Pinot, a little bit of Cabernet (not together, blech)... and everything is right with the world.
What's your favourite fluid?
I'm the same. Coffee gets me started and keeps me going all day long. My guilty pleasure is a small glass of wine as soon as I get home from work and there's nothing like sitting at my pc with my music playing and a glass of wine next to me while I write.
ReplyDeleteI tend to have a cup of coffee each morning, sometimes another later in the day if I'm extra tired. I'm probably addicted to the caffeine by now which is probably not a good thing...
ReplyDeleteOther 'fluids' I really enjoy are Mountain Dew (a treat because it's so sugary), Schwepps Ginger Ale, and Apple Juice.
Are you on a 24 hour clock or 12 hour clock? With the latter, you could get wine o'clock twice a day! Happy days!
ReplyDeleteI love your tagline, btw, just needed to say that fist! Coffee, definitely! Wine, absolutely! But I also like other alcoholic indulgences - martinis, margaritas and the like.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is my only constant ;-) and necessity ;-)
I always have a cup of coffee in the morning, but if I need a little boost I drive to Starbucks for a White Chocolate Mocha, that always gives me the energy I need for writing.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a coffee person, so an energy drink kicks me off in the morning. And oddly enough, I like water.
ReplyDeleteCoffee and wine and strawberry smoothies!!! :o)
ReplyDeleteYou and I could actually be roommates. This post sounds almost like I wrote it. And wine o'clock being movable is brilliant!
ReplyDeleteI drink therefor I am...LOL! Not fussy, I'll drink anything (almost) Coffee and Vino, right up there!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, coffee (with sugar) makes my world go round.
ReplyDeleteI know a gal of 104 who, when asked about her longivity, says she never drinks water. Always coffee. So the proof isn't in the pudding, it's in the coffee!!! :)
ReplyDeleteManzanita
I don't drink much coffee, I'm more of a tea drinker, but when it comes to wine, I'm with you all the way!
ReplyDeleteHot chocolate to get my day started (I'd love to drink coffee, but I can't acquire the taste), then tea, tea, tea all day. I have a whole stash of different types in my desk drawer at work.
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit of a mixture. I drink tea most of the time, but i do drink coffee and Diet Coke. And water. Lots of water.
ReplyDeleteI'm a coffee girl all the way. I drink it morning, afternoon and night. I'm surprised I haven't overdosed on the stuff yet.
ReplyDeleteLOL - I am a water drinker, except when there is good coffee around.
ReplyDeleteI drink water pretty much all day long, especially on long run days. Hydration is a big issue for me. However, I'll usually brew just enough for one decent-sized cup of coffee. I'm out of English Breakfast; otherwise, I'd be making that instead, sometimes.
ReplyDeleteCoffee, first, then water almost all day, then finish up with my homemade Bristol Creme, a combination of my peach and plum brandies. Yummy.

I am an avid water drinker since giving up fizzy drinks....found water more healthier,
ReplyDeleteYvonne.
Oh...there will be coffee. Copious amounts of coffee.
ReplyDeleteYou'd think with a french husband and living in the wine capital of the world, we'd have wine in our home. Alas, my hubby isn't a big fan so it hardly gets added to the grocery list. That said, I could really go for a nice cabernet sauvignion when the day is done (or when the kids get home from school. Or both)=
ReplyDeleteHaha I love today's blog topic. I am a total water girl all the way...I probably drink at least four bottles of water a day. I'm not a fan of soft drinks or coffee, and I am not 21 yet so I don't drink alcohol of course. ;P

I love that, Wine O' Clock!
ReplyDeleteI am the same, I start with coffee and typically end the day with wine. I try to drink water in between to keep hydrated, but not always great at that.
Have a fabulous day!
i drink a lot of water. Pretty much exclusively. I like it and it's free, so it's win win
ReplyDeleteI used to love coffee. I used to drink any kind - iced, cappuccino, latte, instant, etc etc. Then about six months ago I went off it and haven't got the taste back yet - so my favourite fluid now is fruit tea. OH! And Koppaberg(sp?) cider too. The strawberry and lime flavour is the best. :-)
ReplyDeleteI need a cup of coffee in the morning to wake up. I drink lots of water during the day.
ReplyDeleteI'm totally with you, Talli. Coffee and wine - make life worth living. :)
ReplyDeleteI might as well be a fish - I drink constantly! I'm a tea kind of person, and I drink several cups of hot green tea throughout the day. Of course, I also drink water too and some almond milk for the calcium. And then sometimes it turns wine o'clock - or, more likely, rum o'clock. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love coffee. Wine, however, makes me sick so I don’t drink it that much. When it comes to the fun drinks, I like mixed drinks that are made with vodka, rum, or tequila. My favorites include pina colada, strawberry-banana margarita, or chocolate martini. I recently tried a mint chocolate martini at a restaurant. It’s out of this world!
ReplyDeleteWater. I know, boring. But I love it! I really do love the taste. It's so refreshing.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I drink orange juice or apple juice with breakfast. I drink hot chocolate all fall and winter and on cold rainy days in the spring and summer. I like lemonade in the summer, too. But I drink water all day long!
I don't like coffee or wine. I tried, really I did. Please still be my friend, Talli!
WOW!!!! You grind your own beans!!! :-) WOW!
ReplyDeleteIs there nothing you can't do!?!??!?! :-)
Take care
x
Diet coke, water with some OJ added, and water with zipfizz added. And herb tea when I am alone in the house and want to sit and meditate. *rarely happens* I am always drinking something, but mostly diet Coke products.
ReplyDeleteCall me weird and unAmerican, but I dislike coffee, and wine doesn't do anything for me. I know, freaky, huh? I like 100% juices, though a creamy blackberry milkshake is scrumptious too. :)
ReplyDeleteLove this post! I love my tea. But nothing is better than a glass of red wine with a hearty pasta sauce!
ReplyDeleteFor me it's all about beer-thirty, but I do like wine with dinner.
ReplyDeleteDoes chocolate skim milk count? Must get that shot of chocolate and the skim part eases the guilt. I'm also crazy for coffee, but all the chocolate varieties that you probably consider wimpy. Enjoy wine o'clock. Very cute! Julie
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your wine o'clock expression... TOO FUNNY.
ReplyDeleteNowadays I drink lots of iced tea. LOVE IT. I brew my own so it's always perfect. Nothing in the can or bottle, yuk.
Also love a good Pino Grigio. Nice and light. In the winters to ward the cold, a nice B&B or Sambra... now for you chocoholics, Sambra is an absolute orgasmic experience. A chocolate and orange liqueur ... MMMMMMMMMMMM.
My heart doesn't start until I've had my morning caffeine.
ReplyDeleteI recently started drinking wine. I met a 90 year old lady who was just beautiful. I asked her what her secret was and she said a glass of red wine every night. I was sold after that because I want to be her! She was just stunning, even at 90.
Wine o'clock - ha! :) And, I keep telling myself that I should become a coffee drinker...
ReplyDeletewine o clock is happening here right now:) ive discovered gin oclock too which is equally great x
ReplyDeleteI'm not a coffee drinker but my tea drinking ways could give your fluid intake a run for it's money :)
ReplyDeleteNot at all a coffee drinker, but I do love wine. Unfortunately (very unfortunately), it is the source of my headaches. I am so sad to give it up :-( I will live vicariously through you.
ReplyDeleteMy good friend Tom Collins.
ReplyDeleteHehe. I should have known this would be your F post! Wine o'clock!!!
ReplyDeleteFor me that shot of caffein is copious amounts of Diet Pepsi. All day. Until its wine time.
ReplyDeleteThen, its wine time :)
......dhole
Latte all the way... until my brain is floating and my hands have gone through the shakes and back to steady again. And then in the evening, it is guiness o' clock. yay! Fab post
ReplyDeleteLx
Water, actually. It's boring, but usually my default.
ReplyDeleteYou have one of the best taglines around. :)
Champagne. But I need coffee and enjoy a glass of wine in the evenings too.
ReplyDelete*snerk*
ReplyDeleteMy favourite fluid is Chai Tea - probably drink a half dozen cups a day ... or more :)
ReplyDeleteIt's too earl to read this. I'll come back at Wine O'Clock. Meanwhile I'll chuff back my first cafe au lait of the day.

Oh, that'd be 'early.' Naughty fingers. And that'd be a latte, no sugar thanks.
ReplyDeleteI actually don't like coffee. I love the smell but not the taste. I get my caffeine in chocolate form. :)
ReplyDeleteWe should hang out. This is my day: coffee, coffee, water, water, wine.
ReplyDeletehaha! Ooh - I don't have enough fingers to count my favs!! But I am rather partial to martini's and bubbles!! xx
ReplyDeleteMine is definitely coffee in the morning. It's a must need. But in the evening, once in a while, is a Margarita. I love them. However, they don't love me. After one drink, it's heartburn city. But, I love them, just wish my body would cooperate once in a while.
ReplyDeleteTea or coffee in the morning is a nice way to start the day. Ah, is it morning yet?
ReplyDeletecoffee and wine, most definitely.
ReplyDeletefabulous drinks indeed.
ReplyDeletewine, beer, coffee, tea, water, wine and beer, did I say beer already?
ReplyDeleteI'm a coffee girl all the way - the blacker and stronger the better!
ReplyDeletewhen we were in San Francisco last month, I decided to hit some of the famous coffee bars... BAD CHOICE! Now all I do is crave cappuchino. Day in, day out. And guess what? There is no cappuchino to match that of Cafe Trieste. None.
ReplyDeleteso sad. :D But I'm a total coffee bean. And wine lover. Good work~ <3
Diet Pepsi is life to me as well as Green Tea frappuccinos from Starbuck's. I do like a glass of Moscato.
ReplyDeleteI also completely love both coffee and wine. Sadly I don't drink during the week anymore (well, until Friday lunch time rolls around at least), as I think I burned myself out and just stopped wanting it. But now and then I get very desperate for a drink during the week. Hehe. Mostly my drinking time is the weekend.
ReplyDeleteCoffee, I have every single morning on the way to work. Oddly I don't ever drink coffee/tee at home. I think it just takes too much effort for me to have to make it. Whereas wine is easy - you just open the bottle & pour (well okay, you need to get a glass before you start pouring).
I feel the same way about coffee as I do about Zoolander: no one understands its brilliance like I do. I realize I am crazy.
ReplyDeleteI like water, tea, wine and champagne...though not nessessarily in that order :)
ReplyDeleteI can't even think about writing until I've had a shot or two of espresso in the morning. It's also my favourite way of procrastinating - grinding the beans, packing the shot, steaming the milk to just the right consistency, carefully checking the levels of coffee versus milk in my mug. I get why the Japanese dig their tea so much - it's not so much about the drink, but about the ritual.
ReplyDeleteCoffee to start the day, and a vodka tonic to end it. Unless we have a nice wine in the house, but we've had bad luck with corked wine of late. Vodka doesn't do that. :)
ReplyDeleteI really like nesquik strawberry milk. But I tend not to drink it, as I think I'm too old for it. But then I buy it for the kids, and sneak the occasional glassful. I think its because I liked it when I was a kid, it brings me right back there!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the most interestingly-titled post on my Google Reader today! ;-D
ReplyDeleteAnd coffee. Like, obviously! But I am partial to a good mojito...
I'm a water drinker, and I'm allergic to coffee. I love wine, tho :)
ReplyDeleteWine o'clock?! Hilarious. And perfect.
ReplyDeleteI think we have the same drinking schedule. :-)
wine o'clock is delightful. Sadly, I don't drink wine or coffee (I just never acquired a taste for them). I am allowed one decadent can of Coca-Cola a day and then I'm relegated to water.
ReplyDeleteGroan, I decided to support DH with his quest to stop his caffeine intake. It is for a health reason for him, but I felt it fair to do the same. I gave into one cup, but have not had any for a full 1.5 days. I have a massive headache, find it hard to concentrate and read. The only thing I am living for is wine o'clock! ;0
ReplyDeleteDiet Mountain Dew all day....
ReplyDeleteAnd beer all night.
My part is just the same, coffee and wine would top is favorite fluids, I don't drink either. I would drink watermelon juice all day if they made it!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a coffee drinker, and I don't like alcohol,so...
ReplyDeleteFor me it's milk, apple cider... and tea. Earl Grey or Irish breakfast, with at least six spoons of sugar. Minimum.
I hardly ever buy it but pink lemonade is my favourite drink. I am an all day coffee drinker and will usually get a latte when I go out.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite fluid(for the upcoming hot weather of summer) - cold water with a lemon or lime slice in it.
