Bookish Delights

Happy Friday! Since it's almost the weekend, I'll keep this short and sweet, and share a few of my recent and upcoming reads.

Gemma Burgess's A Girl Like You came today in the post. I can't wait to start reading.

Tamsyn's Murray second book in the Stunt Bunny Series, Tour Troubles, is a fantastic read for kids (and adults!). I have a bunny crush on Harriet!

As research for my next novel Watching Willow Watts, I've just started reading Goddess, a fantastically detailed, journalistic account of Marilyn Monroe's life, both on and off the set.

And from two blogging buddies:

The Bear with Two Shadows, by Roland Yeomans.

Birthright: The Arrival by Nicole MacDonald - an entertaining tale with kick-ass heroines!

What are you reading?

  2. Stunt Bunny: Tour Troubles was ace. I loved it and its predecessor. I've got Gemma and Nicole's books lined up to read, as well, and can't wait. They both sound fab. Have fun with Marilyn. Booboobedoo!

I'm not reading anything right now. Giving my brain a break after reading 7 books these past two weeks!

    Have a good weekend!

  5. Have you read FRAGMENTS? It is a collection of Marilyn's poems and journal entries. It is a fascinating look at her inner thoughts. I think you'd like it.

And thanks for mentioning THE BEAR WITH TWO SHADOWS. I think you'll enjoy his adventures -- it, too, has kick-ass heroines : The Turquoise Woman and the Sidhe of Ice and Sorrows, Leandra Dagda.

  6. I'm reading Prince of Thieves by Chuck Hogan (the book on which the movie The Town is based.) It's a departure from my usual chick-lit/rom-com reads, but I'm really enjoying it. Have a great weekend! :)

  7. My husband just shakes his head whenever he sees me coming in with an armload of books from the library or bookstore. He just can't fathom reading several at a time. Right now, I'm reading ON TRUTH by Harry G. Frankfurt, THE SIX-LITER CLUB by Harry Kraus, and THE WORLD IS FLAT by Thomas L. Friedman.

I'm curious about the Marilyn book. Can't wait to see what you think about it.

  16. I love the sound of Goddess. I adore Marilyn. Maybe I'll check that out, though my to-read stack is getting a tad unruly.

And speaking of, I'm slowly but surely making my way through The Hating Game, and I love it more and more with each chapter. I just finished chap 7 (I know! How is it taking me so long?), and I'm now fascinated and terrified by Adam. Ah! Anyway, enough gushing... I'm also teaching myself/learning a few things about good, strong voice that I plan to blog about tomorrow, if you don't mind :)

Talli, let me know what you think of it -- even if you hate it. Thanks again for deciding to take a chance on my prose. Have a great weekend, everyone. Me, I'll be doing blood runs both days. Whew! 31. Great choices! I'm currently finishing the latest Pern novel - then I have 5 or 6 blog buddy novels waiting for me - can't decide which to choose first!

  32. I read part of The Bear with Two Shadows on Roland's blog this morning - good stuff! I'm reading a YA romance called Perfect Chemistry. I don't generally read straight romance, but a friend gave it to me so I gave it a try and now I can barely put it down.

  33. I'd prefer to read the Mariyn Monroe book the most I think. She was legendary.
