There were so many amazing photos to choose from, and these are but a few from our journey through the Wye Valley and the Black Mountains to Hay-on-Wye in Wales. If you want to see more and you're on Facebook, I'll upload them to my account. It truly is a feast for the eyes and we had such an amazing time! See my post below for the Town of Books,
Hay-on-Wye.
Chepstow Castle.
Tintern Abbey.
Isolated chapel driving through Gospel Pass in the Black Mountains.
On top of the Black Mountains, about to descend into Hay-on-Wye.
These pictures are so perfect for a medieval romance. Thanks so much for posting them.
ReplyDeleteYes, all very Gothic and screaming maiden and dashing down corridors followed by men in black cowl hoods.
ReplyDeleteOMG! Those are gorgeous. I'm so jealous. :) I'd love to take a trip like this.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a place to visit. Beautiful photos. Thanks for sharing.

What absolute history in those old castle walls. How does the saying go? If the walls could talk ...
ReplyDeleteI think I've seen the Black Mountains in a movie once. Very pretty! My daughter would love all those castles. Wow- great pics.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful part of the country but well done for selecting some good weather days. We always seem to go there when it rains!
ReplyDeleteAll these pictures are fab! My favorite, though, is the chapel. I love the way the stones seem to waving into the wind, or leaning toward the ground. And the contrasting colours. Thanks again Talli, for sharing a piece of your world.
ReplyDeleteI'm just in love with that chapel! How I would love to sit and write in that graveyard.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the amazing phtotos!
Did some ne'er do well take a pot shot at the "for 11 miles" sign?!?!?!
ReplyDeleteAwww what a beautiful place - I want to go!! :-)

My Jones ancestors came from Wales. So nice to see pictures! I am dying to go to the UK!!!
ReplyDeleteOh! That castle so fits one of my novels. I've only seen Wales from the Devon coast. But I did find a magical stone ring in the fog whilst walking in Devon.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting these photos. I love to travel, even through other people's pictures and descriptions. :D
You can feel the history jumping off the page from these photos! They're gorgeous :)

ReplyDeleteWow, I wrote a story once which had its climax at river Wye´s margins, are we talking about an ancient woodland in Gloucestershire here?
ReplyDeleteLoved the pics!
Thanks for all your comments, everyone! It was so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteClara, the Wye is on the border of Gloucestershire, Monmouthshire and Herefordshire... and it is near the Forest of Dean, if that's the one you mean? It's beautiful!
The photos are so beautiful. They remind me of Ireland. Now you're making me wish I was going to Wales instead of Paris. Maybe.
ReplyDeleteThose photos are amazing. Wish I was there.:)
ReplyDeleteThey have me drooling... really. Some day I'll get to go.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a lovely time!

That's gorgeous! It reminds me so much of the north of England (where I live)
ReplyDeleteOohhhh, I LOVE Tintern Abbey and the gorgeously gothic, wavery headstones at the chapel. How's THAT for atmosphere, huh? Just looking at those makes me want to write some good n' gothic stuff. Thanks for sharing these!!
ReplyDeleteTalli, your posts really grabbed me...took my time reading the previous post...and felt myself transported back to Wales. Haven't been there in years but your photos and exciting words definitely tickled the traveling bug. And I'd heart of Hay on Wye's bookstores but hadn't realized there were so many. Thanks for some cool posts!
