Happy Monday, everyone! London had a scorching weekend, much of which I spent stretched out on a picnic blanket in Hyde Park, thinking of frigid climates and praying the humidity would break. I'm pleased to report it's much cooler this morning, just in time for me to face the full horrors of starting my second draft. I always have heart palpitations when I face the 80k words I banged out, wondering how on Earth I'm going to make this into a novel people will want to read!
Anyway, to celebrate her debut novel, thankfully JC Martin has dropped by with this delightful quiz to help distract me from my novel worries. Pop your name in the box below and hit 'start' to see much you know about the Olympics. In my case, it should be a lot, given my viewing addiction.

Did you get up to anything fun this weekend? Have you discovered how to stay cool amidst humidity?
I'll see you back here on Wednesday!
I have seen lots of JC Martin around the web recently, I'll have to check this book out!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the second draft!
First of all, big thank you to Talli for having me on her lovely blog! And congrats on finishing draft 1! The hard part is over! :)
DeleteI do hope everyone enjoys the quiz!
Kyra, hope you enjoy the book when you get it.
I've melted this weekend. But, worse, we didn't even have any sunshine. It was hot and muggy and horrible. Moan over. For now.
ReplyDeleteLovely cool weather predicted for that pesky second draft. Good luck with it. x
ReplyDeleteIce cream and plenty of. That was my solution! LOL! take care
ReplyDeletex
Bronze medal - but I didn't cheat! :)
ReplyDeleteHope that 2nd draft goes easier than you think :)
Good effort Jemi! Thanks for playing!
DeleteWell I did terrible on the quiz... no surprising! Good luck and have fun with your 2nd draft.
ReplyDeleteThanks for trying nonetheless!
DeleteWow, good luck on that second draft. I know the feeling. Whenever I write something, I let it sit on my computer sometimes for up to a year before I tackle that second draft.
ReplyDeleteHaha I got a horrible score on that quiz. Congrats on getting to your second draft and good luck revising!
ReplyDeleteNo worries Julie, it was all in good fun! Thanks for playing!
DeleteI'm working on edits for my second draft too and I'm afraid there will have to be about 8 drafts before it's right! Oh well. Good luck with yours.
ReplyDeleteLuckily it's cooled down here a bit, but it's still so dry.
High humidity is the worst for staying cool. Minus air conditioning, the next best thing is a breeze, whether natural or by a fan. And icy cold drinks. Glad you have cooler weather today :)
ReplyDeleteNot even trying to the quiz. I was a sporadic viewer. Our humidity is finally breaking. Last few days were lovely.
ReplyDeleteHi, Talli,
ReplyDeleteCongrats on finishing the first draft! Don't worry, we love EVERYTHING you write.
HATE humidity! Living in South Florida for almost a decade was sheer torture, since it's humid ALL year around and beyond dreadful for eight months out of the year.
Thankfully I made it back to Chicago before Florida got hit badly. Surprisingly Chicago's summer has been AWESOME! Fabulous weather. The best summer here ever! It's already starting to cool. Fall is definitely in the air, but I LOVE this time of year, so I'm a happy boy.
If you need a laugh stop by my blog today.... I'd love to see your pretty face!
It's still ridiculously hot here, but that's nothing new. Good luck with your second draft!
ReplyDeleteI have to check out this book. So glad JC got it out in time!
ReplyDeleteThank you LB, yes, it did release in the nick of time, thanks to my publishers!
DeleteWe don't have much humidity where I live (the high desert). We're very lucky to get 30%. It takes a LOT of lotion to survive here. ;) But I have been braving the 90 weather and breathing smoke heavy air since pretty much all of my state is on fire. No worries though, it's nowhere near my home, just everywhere else nearby!
ReplyDeleteHi Talli, good luck with the second draft!
ReplyDeleteI wish I did something fun this weekend, but it was full of chores, chores and chores. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteWe don't really get humidity in Utah - just dry heat. It's not very fun though. I'm really wishing we could get a good rainstorm in :)
We spent the weekend at the beach. The temps were in the low 80's which was perfection. Good luck with the 2nd draft!
ReplyDeleteHooray for JC! Humidity is not my friend. I'm an indoor girl!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lydia. I detest humidity myself. Prefer hot and dry to hot and muggy.
DeleteHi, Talli! Best wishing with starting the second draft.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about the heat. It was sweltering here for several weeks but it finally seems to have broken.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your second draft!
4/12 on the quiz. I didn't pay much attention to the Olympics, though, except for watching a few videos. :P
That's not too bad for not having followed the Olympics! Thanks for playing!
DeleteThat was fun! What a neat way to celebrate book release.
ReplyDeleteThank you Deniz! Glad you enjoyed it!
DeleteWe go to the mall or movies to enjoy free AC. Its been too hot to do much of anything else.
ReplyDeleteAnd good luck to JC and Oracle!
Thanks Stephen! Yes, I'm glad the weather's turning slightly cooler now.
DeleteOoooh, that was such a fun quiz! (Great job, JC!)
ReplyDeleteThe heat was awful. I like sunshine as much as the next person, but I was dying. I feel for you, Talli. (Remember the hottest day LAST year? I was stuck in a car for three hours, six months pregnant. LOVELY. So I really, really feel for you!) xx
Thanks for playing Sangu.
DeleteI'm so glad it's milder this week. Teaching martial arts while nearly 5 months pregnant in a stuffy room when the portable air conditioner's broken is no fun! :(
Hope you get some relief from the humidity, Talli - it's one reason I'm grateful we live up here. We're lucky to get any heat, although it can get muggy some days. I can't wait until autumn/winter, my favourite time of year! Hope the editing goes well - I'm almost at that stage too and can't even remember the first part of the book.
ReplyDeleteI've never been to London when it was hot! Are you sure you're in London? :-)
ReplyDeleteI apparently know three things about the Olympics.
ReplyDeleteNot bad! Thanks for playing.
DeleteDid the quiz - hopeless!! And I watched most of the Olympics!!! Good luck to JC - I'm sure the Oracle will do well. Keep cool, Talli!!
ReplyDeleteAh well, at least you tried/ Thanks for playing Pat!
DeleteYup! this was the weekend that there was a celebration. There was lots of spicy curry and sweet rice. Do you know what some were celebrating around the globe?
ReplyDeleteHumid? Hot? NOt here in Cornwall!
ReplyDeleteAfter a brief bit of sunshine I think the weather's resumed its regular service here in Scotland. Good luck with the second draft. I'm in the same place, and got the Gearing Up to Get an Agent blogfest next month in my sights... no idea if I'll get there, but no harm trying!
ReplyDeleteWell, I was an also ran on the quiz... no idea those mascots even had names!
I only broke even on the quiz, JC, more's the pity!
ReplyDeleteTalli, it would appear you have a rather odd spammer in your comments....
Talli, JC, my apologies for the above comment. Feel free to delete if you like. I just have no patience for jackasses.
ReplyDeleteI didn't take the quiz, considering that what I know about the Olympics is very limited. Hope J.C.' tour is going well and that Tall's revisions are moving in the right direction.
