Pin It, Baby

It's Monday, and it's sunny and fresh here in London after a dire day yesterday. Hope everyone had a great weekend! Although I know we all need another social media outlet like we need err... um... okay, a hole in the head (my brain isn't processing quickly), I must admit I've become rather enamoured with Pinterest. It's a bit like Tumblr without the words, and I love trawling through all the pretty pictures and putting together my own boards.

Last week, I even created a board for Serenity, the main character in Build A Man, showing her neigbourhood and the places she travels to in the novel. Apart from being fun, it really brought her to life for me.The photo below is of Borough Market (duh!), where she goes with Jeremy -- the man she and half the country are 'building'.

Now don't tell me you're not interested in some pinning action! Get yourself over to Pinterest and get busy. (No, I haven't been paid by Pinterest to post this. Yet. Ha!)

In other non-sponsored news, Rachel Morgan's new novel Guardian (Creepy Hollow #1) is out today! It looks fantastic, so run out and get your copy now. Many congrats to Rachel! Amazon USAmazon UK,  Smashwords .

Are you on Pinterest? Do you need a hole in the head?

  1. Pinterest looks like lots of fun...but noooo! I'm too scattered right now...probably because I do have a hole in my head. But cool how you worked it for a character.

  2. Maybe someday in a quiet moment I might like to take a look at Pinterest, but not these days. Just too busy.

  3. I've been hearing about Pinterest. And Tumblr, which I think I signed up for once...

  4. Mmmm, sounds very interesting indeed, Talli. Alas, I daren't at the moment, although I may just sneak the tiniest of peeks to be going on with. Love the idea of the boards ;)

  5. I love Pinterest! The idea of making a special Pinterest board for a character is completely genius, and now I kinda wanna stop working and do that lol!

  6. Just this morning another blogger friend wrote about Pintrist. I think it's a lovely idea, but for me it would be another distraction from writing.

  7. I still need to get into Pinterest; it's kind of passed me by up until recently. I need to get my finger back on the pulse!

  8. I need the hole in my head! Staying away for now - too busy as it is.

  9. Pinterest is ADDICTING!!! I need to find you on there so I can pin all your stuff. I'm an addict. I'll go days without looking but the minute I'm back on there you can't stop me!

  11. I think it's awesome that you can use Pinterest for book/character promotion, or even just to inform. I'm with you; at first, I wasn't going near it. Like I needed another cyber outlet. But now, I have to admit that I'm hooked.

  12. NOOOOO! Not another one?

Hey, sweets ... It's been ages! Now in Key West, Florida... I know I am never home. Who wants to be in frigid Chicago this time of year?

Heading to West Palm today to finish up a job. Then to Cocoa Beach/Orlando until May....

I must admit this one with only pics sounds awesome! Thanks for letting us know...

I did a review on Rachel's book for anyone who'd like to drop by....

  13. Oh Talli, I am determined not to get involved with Pinterest, however much fun other bloggers keep telling me it is.

  14. Pinterest looks like a lot of fun. I am sooo tempted but as yet I haven't ventured. Too distracting. :)

  15. I'm not on Pinterest but will go and have a look. But I don't need any more distractions!

  16. Two of my favorite things in this post-Borough Market and Pinterest. I just followed you there. I'm slightly addicted but in my defense I've actually made/used/tried a lot of the things I've pinned.

  17. I haven't tried Pinterest yet - I have enough addictions;-) However, I like your idea of using it for plotting/seeing where your characters are.

  18. Hi Talli, thanks for this-I've heard loads about Pinterest lately and I guess it's time I had a look-will add to my list of 'ways not to write my novel...!'

  19. I am on pinterest and can't get enough!
I do wonder about the legalities about it all, as I've heard a couple random things saying its not so great :S

(Canal boat was awesome this weekend, but weather was not as warm as we would have liked!)

  20. Hi, Talli, I see we're following each other on Pinterest. I just joined it after reading the article in RG3W (? whatever the title is) but as of yet I have no idea what to do with it. Like everthing else, it'll take me awhile to get the hang of it.

  21. I just started and man, it really is addicting! I made a board for my current WIP which is all princesses and frogs and dresses and pumpkins and shoes, and there is a ridiculous amount of pretty pictures on these subjects. I need to find you on there!

  22. Aaah, I love Pinterest! So many pretty pictures... so little time...
And thank you for the non-sponsored mention!

  26. Loving my Pinterest. It really helps as a writer to be able to see and visit just the things you described - locations, clothing, character looks, meals (though I try to stay away from the food porn boards).

    ReplyDelete
  27. I was vehemently refusing to join it, but now that you mention using it for one's characters... That is kind of a brilliant idea. *sigh* I guess I shall have to check it out. ;)

  28. LOVE pinterest. So addicting.

That is a really neat idea, to do a board for a character! Very cool! Brings whole new life to her, I'm sure!

  29. You are the second person to mention this today and until today I hadn't heard of it. I suppose just because of that I should check it out. If not for anything else....but to see your board!

  30. Hi Talli ... Borough Market I'll visit regularly .. I daren't do Pinterist - though I can see the marketing advantages.

Sunday was miserable .. at least it's not raining today - but cold wind .. however we do need the rain!

  31. I'm afraid of Pinterest. It looks like the blackhole that could eat an astonishing amount of my free time.

  32. Love the Borough Market - Have been to a really good restaurant there, Roast. Haven't got into Pinterest yet.

  33. yes yes yes! I love Pinterest, too! I said it was like looking through a magazine with all your friends and holding up the pix you like. Yes? :o)

I made a board for my inspirations for my books. But maybe I'll need to break that up into separate boards... hmm...

I've heard Pinterest is a GREAT marketing tool. I think that's right on. Don't you? ((hugs))

  42. I've heard of Pinterest, but I still don't totally understand what it is. I'm always way behind on stuff like this. I'll probably get a Kindle or iPad after everyone's already moved on to the next big thing.
And that Borough Market looks cool! I want to go there!

  43. Pinterest is fun and interesting!

    ReplyDelete

  47. I'm on Pinterest, but I read something the other day that made me a little iffy on the subject. Go figure!

    Glad you're having fun! :)

  48. I keep hearing about Pinterest. now I do need to check it out. But I read somewhere about copyright stuff regarding the photos so it sounded scary.

  49. My daughter is driving me crazy showing me a zillion things on Pinterest. I'm resisting so far because I have enough holes in my head.

  55. I have heard great things...but I just can't. I will get sucked into the vortex so fast, there will be nothing I can do about it. And then how will I work? How will I write?

    Miss you, lady:)

  56. I am fighting to stay AWAY from Pinterest, despite all the recommendations! I have enough trouble not getting sucked into the internet, as it is. It sure does sound fun, though...

(And just in case you don't see it on my blog in my response, very cool about living in Agatha Christie's neighborhood! I'm wondering if Silent Pool still exists?)
